do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
came back from last week's Hereford expedition with more than I'd planned ....
woke up Saturday with a very iffy head and the shivers ...
by the evening it had turned into an almost migraine type banging head, with out the disco effects, and was either sweating my nuts off or shivering uncontrollably :mad:
was on my max paracetamol going to bed and my head was fit to burst ..
was hopefully gonna sweat it out overnight and some !!
no snots, no cough, taste was fine, smell was fine .. thought flu?
wrecked Sunday and clock watching for paracetamol time, spreading it out as far as I could ..
come bedtime I had no option but to blitz it with a tramadol / paracetamol cocktail usually reserved for 'organ pain' - couldn't touch my scalp - too painful ...
had a weird night - hot /cold/etc. and slept in exactly 20 minute blocks - wake, look at the clock and zonked again almost instantly - all night long - totally bizarre o_O
Monday more of the same, hamster juice morning and slept for an hour while the bulk of that went in, but the head had started to calm down a bit by the late evening - still no other symptoms developed?
shivery/sweaty night again - fitful sleep and dragged my bum out of bed early for the kids arrival ...
Clara to school, trudged up and down the drive mid morning with Harper in her push chair and crashed the minute I got her back indoors snoring :giggle: wrecked again.

Tuesday / last night was a bitch .. head had improved, sort of but my usual 'iffy night' pains hit me about ten-ish, so had to blitz that - hence me being in the 'late night' thread at half two ..
eventually all calmed down and went to bed, slept like the dead and didn't stir 'til Pam woke me at half ten this morning ...
feeling completely normal/right as rain - I mean WTF was that ????????:unsure:
went to Clara's school's crimbo concert at two ...
got back at three and Pam complaining of being cold - sat in front of the wood burner, giving it 11/10ths.
disappeared off to bed about four with two hot gel packs, I've micro-ed twice since and she's still cold
whatever it is it doesn't seem to last long, but it is not pleasant
anyone had anything similar or any ideas?
no other symptoms, other than as described, what so ever ????????? o_Oo_O:censored:

's possible .... the head ache was unreal and constant - 1 gm of paracetamol just took the edge off it for a couple of hours - then wait for the clock to drag round .... certainly the same level of headache I've had with the four doses of 'the coof', I've had, as Rory calls it.... but nothing else really apart from the hot/cold sweats ....... I've never tested +ve either :unsure:
just glad to be feeling 'normal' again today

had no snots at all, or cough .... 4 days of banging head ..... and woke up from a tramadol induced deep sleep right as rain Wednesday...... today however gunky snots and an annoying on/off cough, with a bit of a headache, but nothing along the same lines as last weekend ...... Pam's been real rough since Wed.s and has no taste or smell, so pretty sure she has it full house ... complete with banging head, snots and barking cough ................... and we have the Plymouth tribe until Tuesday, who treat us like a bloody hotel/playground  ..... God help anyone through the bedroom door in the morning, before I am ready to be awake:(:( ... I DO NOT do 5 oclock niceties and Pam is in no fit state to be pratting about with out of control brats
didn't find out 'til this evening that Josh'd rung this morning, after talking to Vicki, to see if we wanted to cancel ---- would've been a resounding yes if I'd answered the phone ..... they're bloody hard work when 100% fit

actually had some sun this morning .... Pam feeling a bit better, decided to go walking with her mates for the first time since 'fore crimbo
she and one of her friends comes back about 10.30 .... first words as she comes through the door ... "the golf's making a knocking noise! " .... "define knocking noise and from where?" :(
"back end driver's side ... it made a bit of a bang when I left and has been making it since "
"so why did you take it and not swap to the Kia?" o_O:rolleyes:

so took it up the drive .... didn't get far, 'fore I could hear it - like 5 yards. spun it round and went, an' got some warm gear on and sought some tools ... pretty sure what the issue was .........

WP_20240105_12_22_20_Pro.jpg

new Mintex pads and discs last January for MOT .... passed it's MOT a week 'fore Crimbo this year .. all braking up to scratch on the rolling road ... done less than 2k miles - can still see the Mintex label on the backplate FFS
friction material welded to disc and completely detached from back plate.
I pressure washed it Christmas weekend (23rd Dec.) and drove it a few hundred yards to dry the discs off ... been parked since
no matter how rust welded/stuck a pad is to a disc, I do not expect it to detach itself from its backplate FFS !!!!!!
had to literally knock it off with a chisel off the disc .... not happy with the state of the discs in 2k miles either - Mintex again.
did take some pix of the backing plate but can't find them on the phone  .... its bond was ....well it wasn't .. utter shite

Rang me local factors where it all came from - yep in stock - phone answered by Andy, the boss -- " that's not very good Gra .. I'll put a set on the counter for you - bring me what comes off please "
so ripped these out and set off for town .. fairplay, new set sat there for me FOC .. said they'd had a few issues with Mintex stuff the last 12 months and no longer stocking 'em - would be having words with them and chucking my pad (and bits) at them ...
Bloody auto adjuster for the handbrake would not wind back in - only out 2mm ... so took a mil off each pad (2k miles-worth ) and went back in sweet as ... cheating I know, but CNBA to p*ss about with it :censored:
time this had a.n.other owner

No, definitely not.

I gave my Mrs the isuzu to run around in seen as the hilux was now end of life. The isuzu I've ran for 10 mths trouble free but within 5 weeks it has several faults. All of which I've said 'meh' too as I know it can't completely melt down in 5 weeks 🤣

Coincidentally my mate came over with his Jag XF today “Can I use yer workshop to change the brake pads. It making a grinding noise” 😳
IMG_2123.jpeg

Left inner was down to bare metal and sensor had popped out 🤪
IMG_2124.jpeg

Right side was almost on metal and half the friction material was missing 😳
IMG_2125.jpeg

As usual it was painful to watch him bumbling about so I pushed him out the way “ Come out the way fatty let me sort it while you make the tea” ☕🤣
The only snag on this was needing a 9mm hex socket or Allen key for the slidders 🙄

one for @Stock ..... crimbo tree re-cycling - Stock fashion the other night :giggle:
WP_20240107_20_22_15_Pro.jpg

Pam still feeling decidedly 'covidy' ... spent most of the day in bed ... still absolutely wiped out ... reckon she has another 5-ish days to hit the 4 week mark, 'fore starting to get over it ...
my 5th lot has ferked off relatively early, in comparison -- 'praps I'm developing some level of resistance :giggle:

needed to get out and secure the trellis fence today, in anticipation of a kero tanker next week, so lopped up a length of 252 RSA and put some screw holes in one end and some 14mil.s in 'tother for some 12mm stakes and 'installed' some braces, to replace the props I had on 'tother side, which're taking up 3 ft of the roadway .... not the smartest of jobs, but'll keep the fence line in one piece 'til I get to dismantle the panels and deal with the posts :(

2 ft of 12mm stake/nail says they'm staying put for a while

had a nice calendar arrive in the post this week from Tom Lomax at Exc@v8 ... always sends me one with some great pix., fair play ..... not spoken to him in a while - must give him a call and thank him ..... don't think he's on here ?
