Need a new pair of boots and wondering what people recommend
Dont want to spend a bom and want something as high as possible for ankle support but dont want to look like like a member of a swat team
Had cat supremacy boots which where very good and waterproof to start with but fell apart very quickly and the soles where quite smooth great on concrete but useless offroad

I really used to rate Dickies boots, would last me 2 or more years if you kept dubbin them. Since they stopped doing the range I liked I moved over to Dewalt. Yes yes I know not renowned for their boots and it was more of a stop gap at the time but I've been impressed. Again I get a good 18 months out of them which considering they are worn every day doing groundwork, farming, hiking etc is pretty good going. I dubbin them every 6-8weeks, more in winter and it seems to make them last well. Not too cold in winter either.

Arbortec Felhunters - these are actually chainsaw boots but are waterproof to the top (the tongue is integral) and are really comfortable from day 1. Steel toe etc etc.
I’ve got a pair coming up to 4 years old that I still wear daily, they aren’t waterproof any more (the one in the pic is half of the replacement pair for when it starts raining again!) but the soles are still in fantastic condition and they are comfortable. I have never done anything to maintain them ever... Not cheap (around £200) but I live in them and they are the best boots I’ve found yet.

I like slip on boots, and I cant find a boot that i like lately. I would have no problem spending good money but the dear ones don't last me any longer! So im following this thread with Interest.
Might see about going to a special work boot supplier or something... maybe i need my tracking realigned or something:eek::LOL:

Different type of trade as I am often in the office but I was thankful these cat boots were new when I decided to track up my leg with a bobcat micro, the tightness of the boot saved my ankle

Moving a machine around while stood beside it while controls were backwards. The track motors were faster than i thought and it climbed all the way up my leg, controls being backwards the further it came towards me the harder it was to let go

Lucky day

I do the same. Tried Arbortec but back to Meindls now. Airstream Rock is the latest. £270 a pair but worth it. The Airstream Rocks have a lot more synthetics in them, which should put up with the odd bit of concrete better than leather.

As a wise man once said- you need good boots, a good bed and a good woman. Cause you're always in one of them!

I used to always buy Haix (for myself and my lads) but had ongoing issues with the soles separating around the steel midsole - every single pair we had over a 4 year period did it. It’s a shame as they were otherwise excellent boots, but I won’t buy another pair again.

Don't complain - suggest what's better
I have two pairs of Englebert straus boots. Both seem excellent quality and comfort. For winter I have the short neoprene steel toe capped wellingtons. I find the short ones better to operate machines in. I do have a long pair if it gets really deep, but didn’t wear them once last winter.
I also have steel toe capped dealer boots with side zip. The zip on one side gives that bit better ankle support than elastic both sides, but still easy and quick to get on and off.
Used to be a big fan of riggers, but now banned from most sites. Don’t really understand why when wellingtons are allowed.

Had a cheap pair of site dealers they have barely lasted 5 months and offer no ankle support although to be fair doubt lace ups would have stopped me twisting my ankle couple of weeks ago

It's a nightmare choosing boots, I'm currently shopping between buckler dealer boots, some dewalt riggers and dewalt lace up boots depending on what I'm doing that day. None of them are particularly comfy or long lasting tho.
I've heard good things about redback boots but not sure how they would last. A mix of oil burning gear sparks general farm yard s**t and concrete tends to kill all boots!
