New Toyota Land Cruiser: Here's how much the LR Defender rival costs
Thinking about buying a Defender? You might want to think again. That's because Toyota has unveiled its new Land Cruiser with retro styling and a raft of performance and tech upgrades.www.thisismoney.co.uk
Well they doing the V8 in Pacific region and that R/H drive so....Sounds like it’s running the 2.8 Hilux engine and gearbox - where is the V8 diesel?!
However, I’d definitely buy one over the Ineos or Defender, I think it looks ace!
Absolutely. Was at least 3 folk that cancelled their reservation at same time as me that's only the ones that I know of.I'm gutted you cant claim the vat back on the pickup Grenadier. There's so much to like about it but this single fact above all the other little negatives just kills it for me and I'm sure many others.
The backs ok, and the stupid double door setup isn't an issue on the pickup version. The front looks a bit of a mashup of defender, G wagon and Jimney. I think the front bumper is the main thing putting my eyes off. Needs a big winch bumper on it - I'm sure the Aussies will sort that when it gets over there - they love a good Roo barAbsolutely. I struggle to see how it's ever going to be anything other than a toy .
Bit like JCB launching a new telehandler but saying you can't use it on a site only back gardens ...
The more I see the more I've gone off it looks wise ..just doesn't look right compared to traditional defender...can't say what but proportions look weird.
There's feck all to like about it at that money! Think of the machines that actually make money you could buy instead.I'm gutted you cant claim the vat back on the pickup Grenadier. There's so much to like about it but this single fact above all the other little negatives just kills it for me and I'm sure many others.
yeh I know, but their launch video is saying 6000lbs ... so which is it ??Toyota UK site says 3500kg I think they lost a wedge of the market with the last one as it was only 3.2t
I preferred my Navara to the current Hilux tbh.The backs ok, and the stupid double door setup isn't an issue on the pickup version. The front looks a bit of a mashup of defender, G wagon and Jimney. I think the front bumper is the main thing putting my eyes off. Needs a big winch bumper on it - I'm sure the Aussies will sort that when it gets over there - they love a good Roo bar
Honestly though, does anyone own a new truck that they really like? I'm not desperate to change my Navara, it can still go into ulezzzz for the time being... does 35mpg and hasn't done crazy miles, but its at that point of being worth alright money now, which in another couple of years will see it go through the worst bit of its depreciation. Once it bottoms out they don't really loose anymore if they still start and steer. So its keep it for another 5 years or chop it out now. And the double cab pickup is a great format for me - I'm not looking to move into a van anytime soon.
New Amarok was tempting as you don't need to deal with the Ford dealership... but the spec you get for the money isnt great. I've tried the Hilux and wasn't exactly blown away by it in any area. Am I missing something?
Is it time to go down the import route with the 70 series Landcruiser from Auz? The engine is incredible, the trucks built to work - but parts could be an issue and lets face it, they don't have the comfort of these modern pickups. Finding the balance these days seems very difficult.

Land cruiser not officially coming to Europe.
Lots more defenders on the roads as they have unofficial replaced the discovery as eaten in to a lot of sales.
Grenadier group is starting to get quite a few niggles and issues only joined to have a look out of intrest
