I think it's about time we all gets ourselves some big guns

You mean you haven’t already?I think it's about time we all gets ourselves some big guns![]()
Probably too much money invested in aeronautical industryDoes anyone else find it odd that the aviation industry seems to be somehow immune to most of the targets? Those tables posted on the previous page, shows decimation of the dairy and meat industry - yet short haul flights can continue, albeit limited to how many you can take.
Even as it stands today, farming is under huge scrutiny to cut emissions from cow farts, and literally nobody mentions the thousands of planes in the sky.
During "lockdown" the planes stopped flying, people stopped driving so much, and air quality improved. Cows were still farting in the same numbers?

without a doubt ... and these knobheads'll still consider it their God given right to fly everywhere at whim, whilst the plebs look on with envious eyesProbably too much money invested in aeronautical industry
without a doubt ... and these knobheads'll still consider it their God given right to fly everywhere at whim, whilst the plebs look on with envious eyes.... it may be a sanction too much for many, that and no private car ownership

This... absolutely bang on.There wouldn't be so much backlash if they sorted public transport out but they are adamant to destroy private car ownership without providing an alternative.
Infact If they did a decent job of public transport overhaul there would be no need to destroy private car ownership as it would naturally decrease.
This... absolutely bang on.
On train this week...carriage felt like it hadn't been touched since day it was first run 20 odd years ago at least...
No incentive to use train from pricing or reliability these days. Bonkers .
To much money involved in aviation I'd guess. Just think about the tax on jet fuel, the tax on airline profits and all the rest.....Does anyone else find it odd that the aviation industry seems to be somehow immune to most of the targets? even if you book a ticket there is no guarantee of a seat on the damned things ... Vicki's FIL went up to Scotland for a rugby match earlier this year .... had a hip op. beginning of the year ... although he had a seat booked he had to stand for IIRC approaching 8 hours all the way back ... I'd've been having serious words with someone ... if you sell seats on trains when they're full - they're full - no more ticket sales without additional carriagesThis... absolutely bang on.

to say nothing of the billions involved in building and selling the thingsTo much money involved in aviation I'd guess. Just think about the tax on jet fuel, the tax on airline profits and all the rest.....
Jet fuel is not taxed!!To much money involved in aviation I'd guess. Just think about the tax on jet fuel, the tax on airline profits and all the rest.....
and that is the problem in a nutshell .... too ferkin' dear to use, particularly frequentlyWas speaking to a guy yesterday said he can fly from Edinburgh to London for £40 yet a train to Euston costs me £70 on a good day often well over £200
They'll need tanks to herd us up then. It's ok as we will be living in 15 min towns if they get their way
The problem with public transport is often the public. Last time I went on the tube it was horrible. It stank and there was rubbish all over the place. Combined with several drunks, one of whom relieved themselves in the carriage and one guy who gave the impression he should be an inpatient at a mental hospital. There wouldn't be so much backlash if they sorted public transport out but they are adamant to destroy private car ownership without providing an alternative.

Agree 100%. imagine getting up in a warm house and using hot water without it being a luxury. Then travelling to work on a clean, reliable reasonably priced train/bus. Then come home to a decent meal..This was the dream back in the 50/60's.Then it was sort of achieved and taken away in recent times..There wouldn't be so much backlash if they sorted public transport out but they are adamant to destroy private car ownership without providing an alternative.
