Does anyone else find it odd that the aviation industry seems to be somehow immune to most of the targets? Those tables posted on the previous page, shows decimation of the dairy and meat industry - yet short haul flights can continue, albeit limited to how many you can take.
Even as it stands today, farming is under huge scrutiny to cut emissions from cow farts, and literally nobody mentions the thousands of planes in the sky.
During "lockdown" the planes stopped flying, people stopped driving so much, and air quality improved. Cows were still farting in the same numbers?

The farmers didn't go to Oxbridge so naturally they are the targets

There wouldn't be so much backlash if they sorted public transport out but they are adamant to destroy private car ownership without providing an alternative.
Infact If they did a decent job of public transport overhaul there would be no need to destroy private car ownership as it would naturally decrease.

This is not going to end well glad I am the age I am ,looking back probably had england at its best if you worked hard you use to get rewarded but I have noticed since the turn of the century things are getting worse few people want to work hard all want to seat on arse and demand money.Haveing said that few young people will be able to afford to buy a house the left tells them its because the old people had there houses given them not that if you let in 1million extra people into the country every year the demand will outstrip the supply so prices go up .As for 15 min city if they wanted them to work they would put all the things you need like doctors ,hospitals ,work places etc first not ,severance cameras, road blocks etc and stop there and Its looking like they want to clause a world wide famine and kill off a few more with there cow cull so no milk cheese and beef turning farms into forests wildlife habitat and solar farms but then I am working class what do I know ,Got called a conspiracy theorist last month because I did not want my shot after 2 letters and 4 text messages from NHS

This... absolutely bang on.
On train this week...carriage felt like it hadn't been touched since day it was first run 20 odd years ago at least...
No incentive to use train from pricing or reliability these days. Bonkers .

I would love to get a train places, I love train journeys. But it costs 3x the price of driving and doesn't quite get you where you want.
They can make electric cars and luxury cars and anything else they like but nothing is as good as what public transport has the potential to be

To much money involved in aviation I'd guess. Just think about the tax on jet fuel, the tax on airline profits and all the rest.....

even if you book a ticket there is no guarantee of a seat on the damned things ... Vicki's FIL went up to Scotland for a rugby match earlier this year .... had a hip op. beginning of the year ... although he had a seat booked he had to stand for IIRC approaching 8 hours all the way back ... I'd've been having serious words with someone ... if you sell seats on trains when they're full - they're full - no more ticket sales without additional carriages

to say nothing of the billions involved in building and selling the things  .... and the thousands of jobs building, servicing, flying them and all the ancillary workers involved in maintaining an airline flight schedule

Jet fuel is not taxed!!
But AvGas used by private pilots is! 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
Draw your own conclusions as to why the individual is taxed but company use is not. My view is apparently to biased against the state that I should keep it too myself or be censured!!

Was speaking to a guy yesterday said he can fly from Edinburgh to London for £40 yet a train to Euston costs me £70 on a good day often well over £200

and that is the problem in a nutshell .... too ferkin' dear to use, particularly frequently :mad::mad:
have used the trains 3 times in the last thirty plus years, twice they were running so late I missed connections and ended the journey on a coach/bus for the third one ... would be my absolute last resort these days.

It's ok as we will be living in 15 min towns if they get their way
They'll need tanks to herd us up then.
Came back through London on Thursday night...what an absolute stinking dirty sweaty sh*thole that place is. If that's our capital city then not much hope for rest of UK on the cleanliness stakes...I'd say anywhere else in Europe I've been felt tidier and better maintained.
If I move again I'm going further away from population....

The problem with public transport is often the public. Last time I went on the tube it was horrible. It stank and there was rubbish all over the place. Combined with several drunks, one of whom relieved themselves in the carriage and one guy who gave the impression he should be an inpatient at a mental hospital.
I would rather not be involved with such people.

Agree 100%. imagine getting up in a warm house and using hot water without it being a luxury. Then travelling to work on a clean, reliable reasonably priced train/bus. Then come home to a decent meal..This was the dream back in the 50/60's.Then it was sort of achieved and taken away in recent times..
Im sure the good people of this country would exist and perform a bit better if these worries were lightened. How much more tax can be taken from the wages of us regular people....
