Was working in my little office, couldn't hear myself think over the rain, wind and thunder, came out to find an inch of hail and my ply stack had blown over!!
Very very luckily I have finally got the brash trolley bolted to the front of the chipper, otherwise I think it would have been at least new bonnet, if not new radiator time!!

had a lovely Saturday last weekend and yon grass'd grown a good 2" so dragged the Countax out, 'fore the kids arrived after lunch ... drive felt a bit odd, but sod it - eyeball it later.
managed a circuit 'fore it was more than just odd ... no reverse and fwd was struggling ... stuck me head under it and the control bar didn't look too well, so high tailed it up to a box -- while I could, under its own steam ... long, uphill push, otherwise.
was not gonna be an easy fix ... 'least getting at the offending bit wasn't gonna be ... nothing is easy to get at on this.
whipped the collector and box off, to stand any chance ..

bracket on the end of this control rod (made out of something akin to thick card) had given up the unending struggle with long lever and succumbed

by the time I'd managed to wangle my maulers into the space, together with a couple of 13mils and persuaded the two thankfully sensibly length-ed S/L nuts an' bolts out, Clara is stood beside me ... "have you broken the mower grand dad"
" No lovely - it managed it all on its own " ...
she thought that was quite funny :) ...... so that was the end of play for an hour or two

eventually got back to it a few hours later .... dragged the Caddy out and the last couple of 1.6 mil rods I had left and ...

link rod back onto that, to the hydrastat box, wrestle the collector and box back on - clever but a PITA set up to connect, drive belt and I was in business - again :giggle:
got the lawn done and then the sides of the drive ... just in time for tea

fruit trees in full blossom ... great for the hay fever ... as was the silver birch's dangling branches :(
so... fast forward to this morning and it's pretty white here with some glorious sun to follow .... everything's pretty dried out by twelve ..... so ... groundhog day

at least I didn't have to grovel under the Countax for a couple of hours first .....

did have to pull my guts out on the bloody Mountfield, for all the pissy bits though - not had it since last year and wasn't going to, I concluded after about 40 odd pulls ..
I was knackered ...
filter off and fetch the carb cleaner ....
quick snort, three more tugs and it was roaring ....
should've done it 30 odd pulls earlier :mad:

completely burgered after wrestling that round all the piddly bits.......
have said it before  .. but ...
I am getting old :( .....
and it's bloody frustrating

We are all getting old but it is still better than the alternative.
absolutely, but it pees me off how much the body complains, when I do stuff I used to take in me stride ... " spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak " ferked  ... I just don't do " getting old gracefully " :ROFLMAO: and it's hard when you charge on .. and 'fall apart' after :(

well at least it wasn't raining when I opened my eyes this morning .... quite nice in fact..... so thought I might have some bench time. No kids, Pam gone walking with her mates .. peace reigned :giggle::cool: ... 'til she got back anyway

did all the usual odds an' sods of a mornin' and headed for me boxes.

Bit PO-ed to find the 60mm clearance holes weren't ... dead 60 .. in places ... especially where they'd either entered or tailed the cut ... big curf  so got me leccy die grinder out and adjusted them to start ...

Friday is usually ... do what I want/what needs doing .. as long as I am down the school for three to collect Clara, bring her home, then take her to the comp. in Aber to meet her mum/dad for 4.10 to go to her swimming class.
so planned to go get Dan's ( @Monkeybusiness 's ) 'spoils' from Toolstation after dropping Clara.(y)

slight snag, I learned this morning .... I didn't have to collect Clara today :( .. no swimming and she was going to a friend's place after school !! Pam knew I'd planned on collecting Dan's drills today, so was a .. we'll go this morning and do a few other things too .. job:rolleyes::oops:

been an expensive day !! (Dan) !!

did get a couple of pairs of new boots though .... went to the place I've had my boots from for well over 30 years in Cwmbran (as we'd 'needed' to go there for some paint :rolleyes:) and low and behold - closing down - hence a couple of pairs - should see me right for a while (y) (I have very long narrow feet and most work boots are like boats on me - this place always kept narrow fittings)

it'll come to me :) ...
right around the front where the busses swing in, drop off and turn around ....
head from there back into the ctr and it's on the left ...
big closing down sign in yellow ..

got a hell of a selection of toe caps...

everything half price, but didn't look to see what else they had as Pam was fretting about the time - we'd parked in Sainsbury's car park, as we needed some milk and stuff ....
but we still had an hour to spare, when we left :(
