sounds to be beyond "nutter" .. wants locking up .... how would you like your family behind him when the tail was motivating the dog :mad::mad: ... brakes obviously not working or a simple application'd have stopped said trailer ........View attachment 45369 ... pure and simple
In fairness it wasn't an issue with the brakes, they are a very mechanically minded family, the brakes would have been fine. It was more that the trailer was too heavy for the mog to pull it up hills. The 6x4 land rover has a cummins engine and uprated brakes/transmission, one of his uncles does engine conversions on discos/defenders, puts BMW X5 lumps in them. Tbh taking the legal side of things out of it they are hard workers, but not for me to comment on the rest.

so the nut behind the wheel at fault then, overloading the capabilities of the vehicle ...

it'll only ever be a landrover with 3.5t tow cap. no matter WTF you do to it .. banging bigger/heavier/chunkier gear into it merely reduces its GTW and its own carrying capacity

Absolutely. But this begs the age old question of 3.5t vehicles. When the limitations were set vehicle manufacturing standards where a lot different to now. However I am a newbie on the forum, just adding my 2p worth, not looking for a hill to die on.

Here we go ... So here's my recommendations again.๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿซก

5.5t vehicle = standard licenses.
B+E style test = 7.5t
After that proper wagons and tests but needs a coat of looking at as well.

Whole things desperate for an overhaul.
How can it make sense for clapped out sprinters and pickups be running empty but with a trailer at the very max...bonkers.
Surely makes more sense to have properly MOTd 5.5t vehicle than a 3.5t trailer that probably never had anyone underneath since it left the factory??

And I know there's some weird 4.5t battery exemption but seriously wth when they get heavier ...wtf payload must be in a half decent range 3.5t battery pickup ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

The unimog wasn't overloaded it just had poor weight transfer from the trailer. If it had a few weights fitted appropriately it wouldn't be a problem.

put one of the three bales above in it and it'll be doing the dying fly
The bales were in it. Not a trick photo. I have a vid of it driving around a field with them on the back, not sure how to upload it.

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: was towing a turntable drag FFS .... zero superimposition on the coupling .... mog'd need to be on its max and still doubt it'd have the traction

It's not a true turntable. It's a dolly made using a low rise European arctic. But I think the 5th wheel must have been welded on to far back. Another farm locally has a near identical one and they don't have the problems towing it with a 150hp tractor. I've used it and it tows like a dream in comparison to most bale trailers.
