Widened the top jaw on my quick hitch. It takes a lot of abuse being used with a grab and post knocker, plus Whites hadn’t welded it square in the first place . 30mm spiraband in a die grinder was just what the doctor had ordered for matching the two sides up. Then wrung the last bit of life out of a poor 30mm rota roach bit and welded before dressing with the spiraband as required. I also built up and dressed the edges of the plate where it had worn.

Most of the play was in fact coming from two tiny dimples of wear on the main sliding face, a five minute weld and grind job with no disassembly required- but widening the jaw will certainly help and I feel better for having done it. Things like the cone splitter are particularly bad for it.

you can get your broaches re-sharpened Doob - cheaper than new ones, unless it's absolutely bollo-ed ...... used to use an outfit called Maltby Punch and Die for big broaches and punches & dies for the Kingsland steelworker .. were always well priced .. two brothers Russel and Charles De Silva

Or sharpen with an angle grinder if your desperate….

1k hours on my s40 hitch’s and it’s still tight as new! That’s with running tilty & breaker, no idle time as it’s switched off!

Did a little bit of stoning up for a horse track today, plus some other odd bits, turns out the other dpu2540 is also another pain in a, pulley had come lose, burnt a hole through the cover and destroyed the belt

I’ve got 2000hrs of abuse on my 6 tonner (no breaker tbf) and both top and bottom S40 hitches are as tight as when they were new. Really great system, and everything swaps with my 2.7 tonner.

To be fair it's not the fact they are an s40 hitch it's purely the manufacturing quality. But you pay for it mind.

Not really, plenty hitches lock in similar ways to s type and not all s type are the same.

Works it 100%. Yea for re handling and concrete etc. Used it today for stripping soil and throwing clay back, really good for that. Wouldn’t like to start digging clay with it tho

Well over a 1000t in on hardcore for this job to get levels right 5ft deep with 6-4 inch clean RC in some places and then some 3/4 - 4 inch clean to fill all the holes and regulate surface ready for
Type 1 coming in tomorrow to cap it off
Spring high tide was testing bottom of my banks on Monday
Everything shakes when tracking around as not much under here and only used roller today as tracked everything in so far and 44t artics delivering hardcore didn't make a wheel mark driving on it

It's not great, but in fairness they were the only company who would make me a mix and match hydraulic hitch for my E19 and E27. The ability to swap all my attachments between three machines saves a lot of money. However, their initial manufacturing quality control needs a lot of work as I've mentioned on here before.

I don't feel too hard done by given the purchase cost and the abuse it's taken on the E27 in particular. 50% minimum grab work, fair bit of breaker, riddle and post knocker also. It wasn't a big job to touch it up, and there's plenty of metal where it matters.

With 10t behind it it's a do now rather than later job.
