I think it's more than that. It has a lock box for the breaker and buckets with a padlock so they can't be snatched as your working. Then there is the time save factor if you are loading and unloading the machines multiple times a day. Then there is no need to replace straps that inevitably get lost or damaged. Not having gangs borrowing each others straps first thing in the morning leaving someone unable to leave the yard until straps have been sourced. Also brave I think but they leave the machines roadside locked into them so I presume insurance are happy with them.
Makes no sense for a small firm but easy to see why big companies run them

So most around here (not company policy) just squeeze buckets against headboard of trailer with blade, hook grading bucket on the lip of the bucket rest and one strap over the kingpost pulling the machine forward into the buckets and headboard. Those slightly fussier will put one strap through the eye between the back of the tracks but many don't. Is this illegal? I asked DVSA boys at Pease Pottage the other day and they wouldn't give me a definitive answer.

It's illegal not to have a strap over the bucket.
Beyond that two 5000kg straps on a 1.5t machine are fine....
