It's tracking and dozing which seems to need the most from an engine. I was going up a very steep slope the other day. Both tracks spinning and just managed to pull myself up with the bucket but boy it needed every last horse.
Try the E27. Mine is pushed to the limit like that a lot of the time.

Standard spec in the uk seems to be extra counterweight and twin aux pipes for a grab/rotator combo.

@Monkeybusiness has one he abuses too.

You know there's always the 8026......
Plenty of power, very stable, excellent hydraulics and they wont be made much longer I wouldn't have thought, new model cant be far off. Cab isnt the most roomy though.
Wacker Neuson is good in this class too, some odd quirks like the throttle being on the wrong side but nothing you wouldn't get used to. And has good arm on it, drives well too but only do a zero model and I haven't driven my mates one since he's had the tiltrotator fitted so cant comment on stability. His has VDS too and with all that plus tilty will make it too heavy to tow now I'd have thought.
The Bobcat is good but I must say its let down on quality of finish for me. Having said that its up there with my personal favourite to drive, plenty of power certainly and fast.
But the JCB and Kubota KX30 are on paper the most powerful and have most aux flow etc with the Volvo EC27 and WNEZ26 not far behind. The Bobcat I feel almost drives better than the spec sheet suggests? But it is slightly lighter and every kg makes all the difference in this class for max performance.

Now this is a curveball but don't dismiss the Liugong 9027F - I haven't driven one yet but am very keen to do so. What I saw at Hillhead with one parked on the stand was impressive, great spec, double aux on rollers, hydraulic hitch etc, build quality looked good, tidy welding, cab well fitted, good visibility, decent length arm on it and a price of £26k before even negotiating. They have more backup than you think too. Got a lot of ex JCB guys working for them here now and its showing in the way their newer models are starting to look. I would have seriously considered one if I was looking. The 1.8t model is pretty tasty too. Best Chinese machine I've seen in the metal that's for sure. Worth a look.

Any experience of the Sunward @Gunners - their 2.7 tonner looks decent in the pics/on paper (but is a zero I think)?

Not seen one in the metal yet. They were making strides on FB for a while it seemed but all has gone quiet on that front and haven't ever seen one around? They only seem to offer the opportunity to test their kit to proper influencers who buy their followers, post the same stuff every day - mostly cleaning videos, and don't own their own kit.
I have no chance, my tits aren't big enough

Someone keeps posting them on the 8ton below Facebook group, but never puts any prices which I find bloody annoying.

So the Kubota (030) for me ticks almost every box on paper. Decent size engine. Proper arse, very similar in dimesions to my TB125. However almost everyone I've heard who has actually used one comes back a bit disappointed. Certainly haven't heard anyone rave about them.
The other contenders would be the JCB 8026 and Yanmar SV26. But both models don't offset fully to the left. To me this is a major downside. Iv used the yanmar a bit and despite being a pretty decent machine found it frustrating when ditching in close or trying to build walls where I need to work in a tight spot. You probably don't miss it so much as you have the tilty?

What revs does yours show flat out @doobin? I’m thinking of opening mine up a bit as it feels like it should be good for more!
2450 from memory. Can’t say I feel like it needs more, whereas the e19 is flat out at around 2800 and still sluggish on the tracks.

I tried a 1.8t Lui gong with cab, I really wanted to like it as it was a cheap secondhand machine and one with a cab would have been great for a winters worth of work I had booked. But it was just awful. Cramped as hell yet still a massive arse, rocked about all over the place and just generally cheap all over.

The kx30 and the bobcat were neck and neck in the specs when I was looking (once you allow for the bobcat extra counterweight which seems to be uk standard). Both £27k at the time. It was the free finance that swung it for me, and despite all the piss taking, it’s actually a spot on little machine for grab work in particular. The cab finish is pretty crap though like you say- the window never shuts properly and is always rattling.

Same as mine.
Doesn’t need more in general but we were dogging it on a really wet site last week tracking/dragging trees to roadside and a bit more speed would have been welcomed. Would also possibly help it on the flail was my thoughts.

I find the cab finish in the Bobcat better than my Takeuchi if I’m honest! The only real letdown on the E27 is the paint and a couple of leaks.

I've just watched Gunners video on the zero tail version and think the Volvo is too flimsy for my line of work. Far too many plastic panels to get caught on trees and rocks etc. The think with the small engine is even if they manage to get the same power out of it I wonder what longevity would be like. You'd think it would be higher stressed than the bigger engines. I'd want to keep a new machine untill 4000 hrs
Reason I bought 3.2 ranger as opposed to the 2.0 l
