do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
So bought a tipping link off flebe. Sold as kx61-3 and it probably is. But won't quite fit mine. Its maybe 20mm short and where the tipping ram fits (where the spanner is) its needs about 3mm each side chopping out to make ram fit.
Would it be possible to chop the bosses off and move them.

that looks to be fabricated, rather than forged like the old one (as far as I can see in the pix) ... so yeh - alter-able IMHDO

IMHDO ? i never know what these things mean 😣 its bad enough with a 12 year old daughter 🤣
I'm now thinking its a plus altering it as i can get the crowd exactly how i want it. As like most stuff with quick hitches on you loose half the material when lifting boom high

The thing with adding a quick hitch is the extra build height takes away breakout force so you either keep pin centres close and lose power or open pin centres up a bit and lose either crowd or dump angle. Just bear in mind ur gonna lose dump angle if you lengthen links which might make digging the back of a hole nice and plumb awkward. Newer machines don't suffer as badly since quick hitches have become the norm as most manufacturers factor in a hitch being fitted.

I've hired a few new machines recently where the the geometry has been awful- almost unusable when paired with larger dumpers etc. Would it not be better to just get a quick hitch with a good geometry for your machine. The Harford wedgelocks for eg seem to be very good in this regard...

in my humble Druid opinion ;):giggle:

That's odd. I have a wedgelock on both the 1.8t and 2.8t and the crowd is brilliant

But it’s the bucket shape and pin mounting that make it brilliant. Once you’ve got a QH fitted then you can’t mess around with pin spacing to alter geometry, it’s all down to the bucket after that.

Yeah think your right cos looking at this pic the crowd doesn't look vastly more than the pic Jonesy put up. Yet the bucket would retain far more

Well I’ve done a bit of cutting, modifying and trying to outsmart bad geometry. The fact is, if the bucket is not a good shape then it will never be perfect, not matter how much you mess with the pins etc.
In the defence of the bucket in @diggerjones pic, it looks like a square hole bucket to me? I bet that bucket opens up nicely and will cut a nice vertical wall? So it’s never going to be the perfect bucket for bulk shifting and particularly loading a dumper etc, imo. Whilst lengthening the tipping link seems like a good idea, the trade off in the other direction is not going to be welcome imo.
I’d leave the tipping link how it should be, and possibly look to add buckets that compliment the hitch and bucket rotation that the machine currently has.
The angle of the pins obviously has a huge part to play in this, but as important, if not more important, is the angle and length of the bottom of the bucket, which in turn determines the location of the bucket lip or teeth in relation to the from bucket pin, and it this which creates good load retention.

Also depends if you've bought a hitch specifically for your machine or you might have bought a second hand hitch with the right pin spacing to fit your digger but actually for something else

On my 1.5t kubota the geometry on the buckets were crap straight out of the factory.
I think I'll lengthen it 25mm more than the original. Dosent sound alot but will make a vast difference to crowd.
Thanks for all the replys

It’s what I do!
That’s a standard arm! The long arm has another 200 mm between the auxiliary pipe end and to the bucket link pin centre!

Anyone know how to get rid of the service alarm/light on this digger. Think it's a service hr alarm code 32 I think.
I'm having another problem with it starting, it won't engage the starter first and sometimes 20th time
