haven't dared let it out of its box.....have had fields full of hay all around us, but all baled and gone now, so 'the precious' got let out to play yesterday evening :giggle: ..... did its usual great job on 'compacting' a few weeks crap, to a couple of inches of ash, in the bin :love:
Do I detect a whiff of pyromania 😈

Do I detect a whiff of pyromania 😈
now't like a good burn up to deal with the crap :giggle:..... our rubbish goes up the drive maybe once every two months as bags of ash ..... without the 'compaction' technique, it'd be bags and bags of packaging and general crap every other week .. and hope they collect it .. sod that ...
and no need to sort it ... ash is ash - end of .... tins get crushed and go in the scrap bin ...
glass, again is once every two/three months .... if I was allowed to crush it up, it'd be once every 6 months, if not longer :giggle::giggle:

While all you folk in the northern hemisphere have been having what in Australia is considered a cooler than normal summer, we've been having some ...

Rain, unceasing non stop rain. Some areas have flooded 3 or 4 times in the past 18 months wiping out houses, industries, horticultural farms, livestock, roads, bridges and other infrastructure. One of my kitesurf customers has sold up his house on the east coast of Australia and moved over 4000km to the west coast, (only have to deal with annual bush fires there), because with so much rain, the ocean out the front of where he lives is full of debris, dead livestock and sewerage from the floods coming down a nearby river. Not to mention in many places on the coast the unusual and protracted wave action from big storm swells has taken away the beach, destroyed access infrastructure and threatened houses, surf clubs and other above and below ground infrastructure.

We have had an all time record of nearly 2m/2000mm/72inches of rainfall so far this year and no, we are nowhere near the tropics. Annual average rainfall is usually just 920mm/36inches. And it's still raining and the forecast is much more to come. Every road around here has moderate to severe damage and some of the main access roads in my region have been closed due to landslides for months at a time.

Everyone will pay as the cost of these extreme weather events has caused massive increases in insurance premiums. That's if you can get insurance if you live in an area that's deemed to be fire or flood prone. Contractors like myself who run earthmoving machinery have only had three or four weeks over the past six months where you could work. That means expensive machinery parked up doing nothing. Thousands of cars have been destroyed in the floods creating a shortage of new and secondhand vehicles which has meant a 4 year old car can be sold for more than it was purchased for.
Food costs are through the roof as there has been a livestock shortage created by the extreme weather and fruit and vegetable crops have been washed away on our most fertile land. In a number of places virtually every crop planted over the past 18 months has been destroyed by flooding leading to some farmers unable to afford to continue.

Even broadacre farmers out west of here where it's usually drier have had to replant in places, as waterlogged fields have killed wheat and canola crops. That's if they can get machinery on the fields without bogging. Some have resorted to spreading seed by plane or helicopter as the price of grains is too good to miss a crop.

The climate is changing way too fast and the impact on our economy and ecology is shocking

Dave isn't it some kind of routine weather event causing your current wetness? Like an el nine but the opposite?

Also I remember getting called to assembly when I was a kid at qld school when the temps topped 40c. They said if your home is in walking distance you can go home for the day. Mine wasn't but my mates was so off we went. I think 40c is hot and probably unusual anywhere barring middle east or desert.

What area are you from?

that's an incredible story Dave .... and I agree the climate is changing ...
whether man can be blamed entirely is questionable ...
the post industrialised world has supposedly warmed 1'C ...
..... but .. it has been warming since way back..

" between 1309 and 1814, the Thames froze at least 23 times and on five of these occasions -1683-4, 1716, 1739-40, 1789 and 1814 - the ice was thick enough to hold a fair. ...... The last Frost Fair occurred in 1814. Nobody thought it would be the last one at that time. By now, the Frost Fair was an experience reported in newspapers, depicted in paintings and passed on by word of mouth. Temperatures were below freezing every night from 27 December 1813 to 7 February 1814."

it's not many decades ago that there were predictions of a coming mini 'ice age'.

there are as many scientists who support the fact based hypothesis that this is a natural planetary cycle, perhaps more, than there are, that support the current opinion that man is influencing the climate drastically, .. but they get little, or no voice, as it doesn't fit the 'agenda' politically or even more so, with the scaremongering, story creating media, who have become massive 'influencers' in the last 50+ years.

the planet warming is nothing new ...
" Following an era known as the medieval warm period, ... ( During the Medieval Warm Period, roughly from 800 to 1200 AD, temperatures rose a few degrees above average. That warming has been connected to improved crop yields in parts of Europe, and the temporary Viking occupation of Greenland.) .... temperatures in Europe in the early 15th century fell sharply in what has become known as the little ice age. This remarkable cold period brought increased glaciation in mountains, expansion of some areas of sea ice, crop failures, famines and disease across Europe. "

the period in question was 1303 – 1850 .. a significant time span

" Little Ice Age (LIA), climate interval that occurred from the early 14th century through the mid-19th century, when mountain glaciers expanded at several locations, including the European Alps, New Zealand, Alaska, and the southern Andes, and mean annual temperatures across the Northern Hemisphere declined by 0.6 °C "

the "mid 19th C .. 1870 " also coincides with the beginnings of UK's industrialisation

" which took place from the 18th to 19th centuries, ....... the Industrial Revolution was largely confined to Britain. Aware of their head start, the British forbade the export of machinery "

I find it highly unlikely that the UK kicked off planetary warming ... remember the temp. rose 0.6C at the end of the little ice age, so to say we've had an increase of +1'C since industrialisation isn't correct .. it's 0.4'C which may well be a simple continuation of a natural cycle, since the LIA, as we came further out of that (and are perhaps still doing so?) ?

the planet's climate has changed decade on decade, century on century for millennia, eons even.
the climate has changed significantly and dramatically in my life time, as it did in my parent's lifetimes and their parents also.

it's been seized upon as a great way to shaft the populous, frighten the crap out of everyone and generally justify all sorts of draconian sh1t that has been foisted upon us all since 'someone' came up with the idea ...... things change - end of ... man has to adapt, as we have done since the dawn of mankind ....
the planet getting warmer and so changing the environment is nothing new

I know, I know, but thought it easier to do now than if needed ..... so put the tube into the tank, whilst it's devoid of oil ... it's there then if it is needed had to notch the frame a little in front of the port ... might've gone, but easier to do now as later ...

and re-fitted the frame .... this is going to carry the spool blocks, which i dug out a while back for a suss -- more shopping for fittings required

had a bit of a re-juggle with the temp plumbing .. having remembered what some of the fittings, from the last shopping trip were for  so's I can run it up ... once i get the wiring loom sorted ..... would've done that this afters too, but it got a bit damp :(
WP_20220723_17_12_15_Pro.jpg

said spools ...... one for the main pump ...... don't really need the three ... one'd do, but it's what's sat
WP_20220629_14_46_17_Pro.jpg

..... and a.n.other for the piggy back
WP_20220629_15_24_05_Pro.jpg

hopefully dry tomorrow ..... but not what the forecast is saying ... get the wiring sussed
