I could have worked in this heat but what's the point in being self employed if you can't take a bit of time off, been out on the Kayak down the Tavy/Tamar today. Not a soul around and frankly about as close to heaven as I could ever imagine. Bit of lunch on a beaching, bliss and then paddle like f**k back against the tide to the truck!

We finished up at 1-2 ish . Lads needed some new boots so I sent them to go and buy what they wanted instead of finishing early. Got way to hot from about 12 ish. Concrete sided shed no air anywhere . Office had some modifications so the air con has best chance

Hasn't been a wasted day at all .... favourite winter coat washed and then dried AND waxed by the heat of the sun

Bucket welding today. I wish I’d had an airflow helmet years ago, I was More comfortable outside running at 250 amps than inside with two 30” fans running flat out.

Had Friday and the weekend away so back to work this morning. Coped fine with the digger windows open and the air con blowing!! Blood pressure was raised when the school emailed saying kids can go home early today and tomorrow. Really…….some of us are at work!!

No idea how hot it was but the exhaust fumes of the tracked dumper was colder than the surrounding air

All this scaremongering about a bit of sunshine, just another excuse not to do a day’s work. While I’m writing this there’s a doctor (needs to be a doctor on the BBC, doesn’t it) saying when it gets hot we need to drink more.

They are pretty good. I’ve got an Optrel. I can have all day welding crap and at the end of the day there’s no black snot when I blow my nose.

Far too hot, we tossed it off by 2 doing 6-11 tomorrow then giving up for the day, 12v cooler in truck with lots of drinks. We’re in shade first thing but then courtyard became an oven. Home and in paddling pool

I'm amazed there hasn't been more fires tbh. National park here have been campaigning to try and stop barbeques etc. But a fag out the window is all it takes when it's this dry

There's time yet but worst time of year for fell/moor fires is if you get a dry spell in spring before new growth comes through.

To be fair missing the worst of the heat up here, still hot enough mind. I can see a short day tomorrow although the ac in the 4 tonner was on top of the job today.
