Lifton loadstar high lift dumper

Hi all I'm fishy and in need of help I don't do much with hydraulics but when i understand what your saying I'm more than capable of doing things myself
Hi all I have a lifton loadstar high lift dumper it's quite old and have had a problem with oil leaks on the drive pipe that goes through the chassis, well anyway it was low on oil and takes a while to build up pressure to move but when it goes it's fine, yesterday I move the dumper to replace the leaking pipe as I was reversing on tick over I came to a sudden stop and it stalled my engine,
Well anyway I replace the leaking pipe but filled it up with oil but have got no drive everything works except the drive . As I said its an old machine so it hasn't got solenoid on it I'm afraid that something broke when I was reversing any information would be appreciated thanks

When you say old I guess you have mechanical levers to move forward and back, it is still a hydrostatic transmission! Send photos of the dumper please.

Oh yes I remember those dumpers, there are basic levers and cables to control the f/r, so if you put the dumper on blocks so the wheels are off the ground, make sure the hydraulic filler cap has an o ring and seals properly, make sure hydraulic oil level is correct, try f and r.

There's a valve block that controls the forward and reverse two pipes in and two pipes out someone has has a go at it because forward is reverse and reverse is forward

I've taken all 4 wheels off the ground and still no drive but every thing else is working

No nothing at all the engine doesn't change sounds the same no change on anything except my stress levels I've got a funny feeling the pump has gone I keep going back to what will make the engine stall

Yep the gear pump is on the end of the drive pump

Yes that rules that out

From memory it has an open circuit hydrostatic pump, so if we make sure you have a sealed tank and the filter is clean, oil level good. Can you do a video while moving f/r lever.

Hi mick there's no filter on it I don't even know where it should be the tank has loads of oil in it and it seals ok my son found out yesterday that you must tighten the cap he topped it up and didn't screw the cap on and oil went everywhere

Have a good look round it there will be a filter, yes the cap will need to create a good seal.

The filter housing is on the wing with red top, probably where you topped it up!

That's all I can see is in the wing a nut to drain the oil from the tank two pipes coming from the bottom of the tank and one pipe coming from the side of the filling cap to the tipper controls

Undo the big red plastic cap - probably needs a 32mm spanner on the square ‘nut’. There should be a filter under it held down by a spring. If you can see straight into the tank the filter has been binned.
