4x4 pickups or iveco's that will tow 3.5 ton

If you buy new you can spec a MAN TGE for towing and it will come with uprated suspension factory fitted tow bar 180 hp and 7000kg gtw.
I got one a year old but they are like hens teeth used.

I don't think they offer 3.5 ton towing on the 4 motion versions though which spoiled the idea i had of having one van instead of pickup and van, although tbh it probably works better as it is and I'm at barely more than half the cost of a brand new MAN

I looked at the same, and think it was 3000kg towing max on the 4x4.

I’ve got a 180hp 4x4 on order and it is definitely 3 tonne towing weight.
A mate has a 140hp MAN and is really disappointed in it as a tow vehicle - reckons it wouldn’t pull you out of bed. Hopefully the 180 is a different story or mine will be for sale in September!

try and Iveco daily 210hp, tows 3500kg with ease. Only thing to watch out for is if empty inside you can spin the wheels, even twin rears if it is damp.

I’ve had a few Iveco Daily’s - I don’t think there is a better tow bus available tbh, they are torque-monsters!

Tbh I'd rather have a 140 mapped than the bi turbo 180, they aren't as reliable long term from experience of a few I've known of.

Having towed heavy with pretty much every vehicle at some point…. If you’re towing heavy and on the road and going FORWARD then a LWB RWD with some weight over the axle and plenty of horses is the best way forward (unless it’s a normally aspirated MK4 transit on a 25% Devon hill).
If you’re doing lots of backwards/hills/shunting/raining/dark/off road then my Dmax with an open tub with about 500kg of weight over the axle is my favourite. (I just need to fit the freewheeling hubs so I can use Low Ratio more freely).
I’ve done a LOT of towing with FWD vans and you can get away with a lot to be honest…. Just not always legally

I'd disagree from when I was doing 20 on the m62 over the Pennines the scariest experience I've had, though I did have 3t of isle forklift on the trailer and a ton of it's battery's in the back of the van

Amazingly it tows absolutely fine when empty. Obviously need to get the trailer balance right, but feels more stable than the Isuzu D-Max it took over from.
