detachable tag axle .. all sorts of CE to be met on that ....
all ali build BTLs and is solidly fixed so as you say, reducing payload effectively ...
would be a hell of a barney with DVSA on the side of the road ...
love the two bricks/blocks under the rear wheels to get it high enough to get it under ... and it's on air
I'll bet there's a loophole or some wording in the law which that is trying to exploit somewhere along the line. Just one or two in the country and it could be surprising how long you could get away running one but if they sold a heap of them they'd stick out like a sore thumb. It's probably reliant on someone being brave enough to run one and then rich enough when it goes to court to just get a slap on the wrist to clarify the law and then never see one again.

don't think it'd be a slap ... more like a kick in the balls .... that'd massively affect braking/load sensing systems on the vehicle

I don't think target market is uk tbh but wherever it's intended for they likely think there's a way it can be used

quite probably Gaz .... but they were the ones who created CE .... I know the French quite like adding tag axles to smaller vehicles of that ilk

Looked at 5th wheel website, this is another one they do. Can’t see the appeal after losing a chunk of load bed space etc 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not really a good example as could easily tow that pickup on a 3.5t car trailer. It only comes into its own if it's possible to tow a 2.5t digger and a 1t dumper at the same time, reality is, it's probably less hassle to just get a 7.5t wagon load dumper on back and tow the digger. Not too sure on the claims of it being legal running the mini artic, it's fine saying it's ok by the companies but who really wants to be the guinea pig for DVLA pulling your pants down if the interpretation of the rules is wrong

Tag axle or trailer though 🤷‍♂️
solidly attached at five points to the vehicle and unable to 'trail' behind .... I'd class that as a removable tag axle

Yes it might as well be bolted on 😳 it's a bit like the American mixer wagonw that you see with a axle on a frame dragging behind to get through a loophole.

You`ve done well to find a sprinter with 3.5t towing, where they not a special order with different diff ratios?
Yes I think so lower ratio diff it does rev a little higher than I'd like on the motorway.

I've been looking for a van that'll tow 3.5t for ages then this one popped up half a hour down the road I really would've liked a L1 H1 but there rare before you start looking for a 3.5t tow one

Out of interest what other panel vans can tow 3.5? I might be swapping to a van over a pickup and am keen to find some options..
If you buy new you can spec a MAN TGE for towing and it will come with uprated suspension factory fitted tow bar 180 hp and 7000kg gtw.
I got one a year old but they are like hens teeth used.

If you find an L1 H1 buy it and I will give you your money back for that sprinter

All iveco dailys come with 7t train weight and go from 120hp up to I think 220hp but twin rear wheel is rare

If anyone's after a MAN lmk I'll DM you the details of the lad I deal with.
We ordered another in April..now due November was originally first quarter 2023 so something's improved .
Can't fault them tbf. Ours is out full time on the road multi drop pallets zero issues so far.
I cocked up with first one and missed A/C off though ..😱 you don't half miss it😆
