Just a tilt hitch. £3600 I got quoted for a geith power tilt. Think a tilty is near £14kTilt hitch is 5k or more for a 3t though.
Yep so 4k for a tilt hitch and suggestions here that a 4p tilty should be 5kJust a tilt hitch. £3.6k I got quoted for a geith power tilt. Think a tilty is near £14k
Just found quote it was £3900
Realistically what should a tilty be? As said 3.6k for a tilt hitch (the Geith is a helic unit so more pricy than rams) a Rotator for a grab tends to add 1-2k....Yep so 4k for a tilt hitch and suggestions here that a 4p tilty should be 5k![]()
Aw comon, lets get you started on guidance !!we need a bit of controversyRealistically what should a tilty be? As said 3.6k for a tilt hitch (the Geith is a helic unit so more pricy than rams) a Rotator for a grab tends to add 1-2k....
So 6k for toilet and rotate which would sit it at somewhere near the price of a new engcon a few years ago for a 3t digger?
Let's not start me on machine guidance....... Because that will rapidly descend into bad words and opinions on how simple (yet overpriced) systems are eating a made up market.
I remember as certain “high profile” member publicly stating Engcon should not be allowed to sell any system that wasn’t the spec he had and no one should be allowed to buy anything lower spec. When I asked who he thought he was to dictate what people should sell or buy he flounced off and hasn’t been seen since.IIRC Engcon where doing basic units around that price, and some of the existing tilty users didn't like itAlmost like they didn't want the great unwashed joining them
Yes they where perhaps limited in the control system, but if you where on the fence, cheaper way to see if it works for you?
A few years later now most machines can have 2 sets aux lines from the factory, may be its time for a basic 4 piper again.
It transpires he also had alot more machines and money in the background too from what I've been told recently.I remember as certain “high profile” member publicly stating Engcon should not be allowed to sell any system that wasn’t the spec he had and no one should be allowed to buy anything lower spec. but that's helical drive tilt .... a ram system'd be pennies in comparisonYep so 4k for a tilt hitch and suggestions here that a 4p tilty should be 5k![]()
so it was you who pissed him off, was itI remember as certain “high profile” member publicly stating Engcon should not be allowed to sell any system that wasn’t the spec he had and no one should be allowed to buy anything lower spec. Yeshelical??
how do you cope with the swap from buttons and pedal to rollers Shaun? how long does the adjustment to letting go of the rollers take you ... the few occassions I've had a brief crack at rollers I find it 'testing' to remember that it's the thimb completley in charge of the movement ... but as said I've not really had a proper crack at getting the hang of the difference ... buttons and trotter still do a fine job for meSo my first basic tilty for the kx71-3, back in 2018 was £6k which included 3 buckets. @V8Druid over stated the number of times I have removed it. It has never come off!! I don’t own a breaker so I have hired a digger and breaker on a few occasions. I have added a diverter so I can run my post hole borer and flail under the tilty although you have to be careful with the hoses!!
After running this set up, it wasn’t a big decision to order one for the 8ton kobelco. It is on DC2 and has EC Oil. Great for the tree shear and 4in1 bucket. It has hydraulic top and bottom hitch. I am so used to the foot pedal and buttons on the Kx, there is no need to upgrade to a DC2 unit. The DC2 on the bigger machine makes very simple operation.
I did get a sensible price on the 8ton. The price new makes my eyes water!!
Would not want to be without either.
it's an unfair comparison ... helical tilt is never going to be cheap and compared to a ram and some bracketry, are one a whole different plane, production/manufacturing-wise
I suppose you can buy a helical hydraulic tilt hitch and a rotating grab for around the £7500 mark. What's costing twice the money for a tilty with ram driven tilt. I assume the rotate on a tilty is probably far tougher than that of a rotator on a digging grab?Helical tilt isnt comparable to a tiltrotator?
It is in so much as it does half of the job![]()
Never been a problem. The rollers are just very nice to use. It is the foot that feels left out.how do you cope with the swap from buttons and pedal to rollers Shaun? how long does the adjustment to letting go of the rollers take you ... the few occassions I've had a brief crack at rollers I find it 'testing' to remember that it's the thimb completley in charge of the movement ... but as said I've not really had a proper crack at getting the hang of the difference ... buttons and trotter still do a fine job for me![]()

I am sure you understand that you are able to jump in Several different cars and you just know what to do without thinking in each. Same in the diggers.
absolutely ... 's just I've never had the opportunity for any prolonged time with rollers to get my head around the difference ... and as you say the left foot feels redundant (which it is)Never been a problem. The rollers are just very nice to use. It is the foot that feels left out.
