I’ve the biggest Stihl engine powered one, it’s amazing how much you can cut down. Takes about 5 times longer to tidy up after yourself than going around nipping low branches off etc.
Battery is so well suited to this now, no idling, no restarts, no hot engine when you're holding it at the wrong angle 😆
Certainly makes a pile of cuttings quicker than you can clear them up!

After a morning sorting out some minor storm damage😯😯 (modifications being made soon!), then a 2.5 hr drive to do 38 miles, I gave the old project dumper a turn over.
Fired up first attempt, no problem at all and then it ran steady as you like for 10 minutes while I tried to shift the clutch with a packer or 2. That definitely didn't work 😆 but I think with some actual tools and wd40 it'll go, and the brakes/accelerator seem the same 🤞

think I may have asked this before, but how do ppl rate this ?
have seen various reasonable reports on Hyundai's stuff and bear in mind it'll only see sporadic use with me mostly with the pole saw and hedge trimmer at reach

Based on my experience with the hyundai chipper and grinder, all the important bits will work and it'll do the job, it'll be the little stuff that let's it down/needs regular fettling.
Probably be heavy and high vibrations though, I'd certainly try and physically get hold of one before buying.

Shed tidying this afternoon, got given some old worktops so I could get engines on a shelf, too heavy to slide about on the old rough shelf.
Over the other side I sorted out literally 1000s of nuts, bolts, washers, rivets and all the rest. Managed to condense a 6 foot by 6 foot pile of boxes and loose stuff into 2 van vaults 👌👌
Then started on the shelves over the van vaults, sorting out the land rover parts into needed, auto jumble and scrap 😆 👍
Even managed to find somewhere for the axle I made for a brash trolley a few months ago, one of the most awkward things I've ever handled 😆
Amazingly I was at it for 6 hours, but it has been a while since I did anything in there and I've got half a chance of getting something made/repaired in now 😀

The main shed ornament I was tidying around- an F reg 90 I picked up in April, in kit form.
It's getting a td5 conversion and will probably become a soft top, the 2.5td and box came out months ago, they're long gone bringing a few quid back into the pot. Amazing how much space a vehicle takes up when it's in pieces!
Managed to get rid of quite a lot of stuff at the Newbury Auto jumble just after I'd bought the 90, van was definitely less tricky to load on the way home- I'd even filled the passenger seat on the way there 😆 🤣

What was in the orange box at back of tipper looks surveying related?

I believe it was indeed some kind of survey gear, belonged to the guys stood next to it, some friends who have a collection of military vehicles. They were using my truck as a base for the pile of mess tents and various other bits they'd bought 👍

Closest one of these I've done in the 15 years I've been fitting them-sub 5 miles away- and I was late 😆 🤣 only 5 minutes and it was definitely still dark when I started 👍
Ended up looking like a council job as it made sense for the work mates of the guy we had with us (his boss and another lad) to pick him up on their way home 😆 🤣 We all got stuck in and away by 2.30 👍

Err erm yeah 😳 😆
The unexpected extras had just come off a full 'yellow suit' site - why the f do you need hi vis trousers when you're up in a scissor lift all day! So it was probably a relief to be able to just get stuck in to the job.
I wear boots all day everyday, just not necessarily the steel toe variety, although there's always a pair in the van in case. Basically I have 2 pairs of redbacks on the go, work/everyday pair and a 'best' pair for everything else. When the work pair are shot, the best pair are demoted and replaced 😆 👍

Weather improved a fair bit today, was so wet when I got up I went back to bed for half hour, was a lovely sunny day by the time I got to my first job👌👌
First job was cutting down shrubs either side of a fence so I could replace the last panel. 4 hours of cutting, dragging, raking and sweating to replace one fence panel 😆 🤣
Headed back, unloaded, loaded up a bag of logs then as I had the loader out I decided it was time for the poor old dumper to move inside. Hate having things out in the rain/mud 😫
Dropped of the logs then went to my favourite customers (he once paid a hefty bill I'd emailed him before I had even closed my emails down!! Not only that but theyre so easy to work for, they know what they'd like, I tell them if its practical, we get it done) new house 👌👌
After a bit of searching I found it, lovely plot, loads of work over the next few years. First up will be a temporary parking area, 220 odd square meters to skim off and lay planings over. Nice start.

Mac box getting some hammer again 😆
Putting the engine and gearbox for my project 90 back together.
Joining the engine and 'box together fought me all the way, to the point where I had to get help. Couldn't work out why, as I've done it this way before on my own- then I realised last time I didn't have the transfer box on the gearbox, half the weight, better balanced, actually achievable 😅 😆
Got there in the end, 2 pairs of hands doesn't make it twice as quick, makes it 10 times as quick!
Back to my shed with it, hopefully get it set into position over Christmas and mark up where the engine mounts go, then pop it out ready for welding the mounts in. Although as there are no wings on the truck it may be weldable with the engine in🤔🤔🧐

The pictures of the finished truck are one I found on ebay, pretty much exactly what I want, even the colour- what the truck was originally and looks just right to me👌

they're some lump together for sure .... even worse with a V8 to attach :giggle: .... LT95's worse though --- 's one piece and worse still with an overdrive bolted in place ... that LT77's tiny in comparison  ;):)
worse still with a body in place :ROFLMAO:
this was 'a project' .. 'an a half 3.5 Vitesse on LPG .... not a lot of room for it all

That certainly looks tight 😳 Bet it was worth it when it was done though 👌 What sort of power would that make? A standard 3.9 is about 180, which is about where I'll want my 90, fairly common for a td5 now. My 2.4 110 was around that but a lot heavier than any 90, and that flew 👌👌

Never worked on a v8, apart from cutting the mud flap bolts off a 50th Anniversary edition for someone elses customer! Not much room for the grinder and a ton of thick cardboard to catch the sparks...
That was a great night shift, my mate was doing a rear crossmember, I was helping him with cutting, prepping and lifting, then I got stuck into the mudflaps while the guy we were working for tinkered with his series 1 and collected the pizzas 😅👌👌

They're a big lump all together, we normally use a lifting jib on the forklift and a pair of pull winches to get them hanging right when they're all joined together 👌

The above mentioned 2.4. Best vehicle I've ever had.
Bought blind on ebay from Kilmarnock, I got a lift up with my Dad on his way to his winter holiday in the Highland, picked it up and drove it home. Which was the most uncomfortable drive of my life 😆 🤣 A small steering wheel, bulkhead removal bar and extended seat runners and it suddenly had more room than almost anything else I've ever driven (not for my right knee and elbow, obviously, I'm not a miracle worker 🙄 😆) 👌👌
It was on 130k when I bought it, 4 years later it rolled over 200k, the clutch went and I very stupidly sold it, for a good price. Excluding my labour, it cost me 4k in maintenance, mods and depreciation. Over 70k miles. I will never have a more cost effective vehicle.
I put some photos of it on a puma defender Facebook group, guy messaged me with photos of it working on powerlines in minus 20 snowdrifts! He'd been it's only driver till the electric board auctioned it off so it basically only had 2 drivers over 200000 miles. Brilliant truck. Got to get another one.

it was a 'pleasant' drive :giggle:
the big valve 3.5 Vitesse, with single plenum flap valve Efi and Vitesse headers, made circa 210hp from the factory, from memory -- it went well on petrol or LPG :giggle:(y) and was ultra reliable (more than could be said for the over-bored 3.9, hand grenade with the pin out, successor) - lap of the Gods territory, with over 50k on the clock :cry: - 3.5s were bombproof :giggle::cool:
