Which size trailer

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, feel free to move it if required.
In the market for a trailer, not a plant trailer but flat bed with sides.
Twin axle and probably 2 ton weight capacity due to towing vehicle.
It’s not for anything specific but just to use to move stuff around the field and go collect any bits that I might need that won’t fit in the truck.
I was thinking 10x5 would do, any different thoughts from anyone.

Depends entirely what you want to move! 10x5 is not even a transit tipper size.

Nothing major, collecting logs, a bag of stuff from the builders merchants, moving stuff around the field etc etc
A couple of times recently one would have come in really handy and seeing as 10x5’s are not silly money I don’t mind it sitting around.

I'd go 10x6 had one for years...still got one in fact.
Amazing what you can get on it...and still get it into all sorts of places.

Ifor Williams LM105 will actually be about 5.5 foot wide. I found that a very useful size, but if you were only going to have one trailer then a tipper is always worth considering as you would be surprised how useful that can be.

You wont loose much on a decent used Ifor. The LM range can be available in 2700kg or 3500kg. You wont hurt having a 3.5t one behind a lighter duty towing vehicle as long as you stay within the weights.

I don't currently possess a flat bed, but have more than enough components to assemble one, some time shortly ..
have had 10 x 5, 10 x 6 and 12 x 6s in the past and have been 'agonising' over what to create for a while, but it will almost certainly be of the 6 ft width variety ...
5ft can be awfully narrow in flat bed form (and I have a 10 x 5 box anyway) ..
only Q still to decide upon really is 10 or 12 feet long

I have a 10x5 manual tipper. Wessex trailer. Bought it used as a bit of knock about. Very handy size I find and the manual tip comes in handy sometimes and doesn't mind sitting around in the wet when it's not used

I have a strong hankering for a triple axle 16 or 18ft flatbed. Saw a nice LM1807 locally and was tempted. I keep finding long things that I want to move about . 14ft would probably be enough TBH

I always have the facility to borrow Simon's 16ft Ifor if needed ... might make the Kia wince though

yeh a 5 ft 'd be a PITA for reversing with ... my 8x4 is a pain .. even with the muddies out another 8" either side, you can't see it in the mirrors 'til it starts to come round, so it's often a series of weaves to reverse (if you have the space)... a 10 x 5 under-wheeled would be equally frustrating ... at least I can see the muddies on my 10 x 5 dual wheeled box and keep it straight

Interesting you say that cos I agree I'd sooner have the trailer a bit wider than the tow vehicle- even in the Devon lanes- whereas others I've had the conversation with (think @JD450A is one of them) say they prefer a narrower trailer. My ifor flatbed is 2 metres and don't find it a problem at all. Although the little chav trying to impress his girlfriend who tried to squeeze past it prematurely the other day (I was stationary) and tore the door skin of his car probably thought it was a little wide too

I prefer narrower.

Gh1054 fits nicely behind my 3.5t tipper.

And my digger plant fits nicely behind the pickup and disco.

Reversing with the digger plant on the 3.5t tipper, Yes it's harder to see but overall it's nicer to not worry about it when going forward....which is let's face it..majority of the time.

I think the perfect trailer depends much on what you’re pulling it with!
GD84 twin axle with long draw bar always pulled VERY sweetly and would always follow in your tracks 100% of the time. You could literally blast away at Narrow Devon lanes flat out and never worry about it, whereas GH1054BT is probably my most capable trailer so far but you do have to remember it’s there as it’s got a longer draw bar and hangs back a bit.
I run reversing cameras on vans so narrower track stuff like the TT2515 and LM105 work well behind a L2H2 Van as it’s always showing on the camera even if not in mirrors.

Although it's start of the wet'ter season...in my RWD pickup today and....woah slightly over enthusiastic away from lights into a tight 90 bend gave taxi driver alongside me a fright I reckon

This one . Close to me, but maybe if it was £1000 - £1500 cheaper! I’ve not priced up a new one to be fair, probably £5000+ at least

Sounds similar. In my case it was the bolt that holds the uprights in for the dropsides- impatient little git tried to squeeze past and it literally opened the side of his car like a can of beans. I got out to talk to him assuming he was going to pull over and he sped away
