A shade of yellow, dig, spin around, can be carried on a trailer up to 2.8t
A shade of yellow that I am but turned to doosan orange when it wasn't a true cat anymore.

I've had both the b and c spec cat minis from new but the rebadged nuson with additional 5k price tag dictated its a no.

I have one to play with later this week as the doosans time here is up....look out for a sales advert soon. 🙃...

....unless the new cats are wank then it maybe a new doosan/bobcat.

Some New Cat mini’s are made by Cat in China. Think some are still Wacker, like the 300.9
What's the new cat minis like now?
Had nothing to do with the new ones so far.

I didn’t think they ran a gear oil in the reduction boxes on those! Just hydraulic oil leak in and leak out! If you have the manual could you find the final drives and advise us further please😊
Looked at the 300.9 specs on SIS2 (can’t access the w-n specs online) and there is only Information on the engine oil, coolant, and hydraulic system capacities, nothing about the finals so it looks like this is the case, Mick. Also, the cat machine takes Cat Hydo 10w (SAE) which is equivalent to ISO 32. Engine takes 10w-30 or 15w-40, I’d say the higher viscosity is a better bet if we’re getting many days like last Tuesday.

Is this micro digger something a layman can do a service on? Replace all the oils and filters and the gear oil in the final drive? Or should I look for a mechanic somewhere. Would a car mechainic service one of these?

Oils and filters are pretty straight forward and I'd have thought it would be a good way of 'getting to know your machine'.

Car mechanics seem to get a bit flustered when seeing anything without electric windows and carpets. So unless you find someone a bit more flexible, it probably won't be a happy experience.

.. and don't skimp on the grease. One of the functions of pushing fresh grease into a joint is to flush out dirt and contamination.
Get yourself a 'nice' grease gun and don't be afraid to use it.

Thanks for the help guys! Ive got all the oils and grease in the world and the digger is being serviced next week not by a car mechanic!

One last question. The coolant. Do people normally buy concentrated or ready mixed? It looks like pink coolant in there at the moment.

I can find 20l for £50 from JCB with the right numbers (ASTM D4985. ASTM D6210) in the description but its green in colour.

I know it shouldnt be mixed but is it ok to drain and refil with different colour? I can;t find a pink ready mix with the 6210 etc written on it anywhere online.

go down your local motor factors (not the car accessory shop in the high street) and get 20l.
Pink/red, was 24 quid when I last bought some 'bout 12 months ago ...
the green was always cheaper and is a 'universal' of sorts.
I use it in all but two of my engines and have done for over 45 years - 50/50 ...
don't skimp on the mix..
it's a corrosion inhibitor as well as low temp. protection ...
Cummins and a lot of big diesel manufacturers fit coolant filters in their systems which come filled with additional corrosion inhibitors

and have a can of 50/50 made up for top ups, to prevent the temptation of topping up from any convenient tap ;)

I have always used the concentrated and either 50% mix or 33% most now have all the additives in them really it’s all down to preference or convenience I guess. If it’s right spec colour should not matter I did read pink is easier to find leaks or traces of leaks with uv light, probably bs though.

In the manual I downloaded, it specifies Ethelyn Glycol @ 50/50mix (the florescent green one).
This is the coolant I use for preference and works well unless there is a reason to use something different.
I bought 20l of this stuff recently and the claimed life is 200 000km, so the 30 000 miles sounds a bit '1960'.

Another thing to remember is that coolant also acts as a lubricant. Coolant isn't cheap, but it's easier to change than the water pump when the seal leaks.
