Dealer backup is a huge part In the pricing! Also spare part availability, how many parts are in stock in the uk for your machine? That’s just scratching the surface, not even going into resale cost etc!

There is decent stock of new mini and midi machines over here.

I know they're not 'mainstream' - yet, but then neither were Hyundai, Doosan, etc., etc. originally, when they first entered the market

Haven’t priced one in 5 years but I didn’t get a single price back over 38k from any of the mainstream companies for a 5.5ton

I suppose when they are built using tried and tested components the only things to look at then are balance of the overall machine and weld quality of how it’s put together then dealer service .

Depends on the part. I know tractor dealers carry a surprisingly good stock of cab glass for example. But somethings you would expect to be a common part could be a long wait

Its not dealer stock availability so much as manufacturer stock in the country. As long as its in the country you can get it next day.

But then that applies to them all so why don't we all just buy the one we think looks best. There's still a lot you don't see/think about that goes into tying all the branded parts together to make them good to operate and get flow sharing right, cab layout etc. That's without real world hyd flows etc which can be way different from sales blurb.

That was a u.k guess....It will be dearer than that over here in France that's for sure - JCB lad said expect about 65k€ for 5t.

Yeah i get that. Would you expect all manufacturers to be similar price wise against one another over there to what they are here. Tbh when you are sure spec is near enough same there shouldn't be too much between them other than like of sunward being a chunk less. Up to 8 ton is so competitive across the board in each size there usually isn't much between them.

Sounds à lot of money and 1yr guarantee seems poor .... if Hitachi are so bulletproof why dont they offer 2yr or 3yr as standard ?£51k and £56k respectively ? ...... no idea how that compares over here Kev ? .... either gonna have to go DC2 or changeover
Honestly I fancy kinshofer from à simple/robust stand point even if you loose à bit of force , so it would be cps or prop+ and if I find a high spec machine it will be 4pipes and switch tilt for grab or whatever.
Im trying to get price difference between 4pipe and cps from Kinshofer france so I can make a call.

think their reputation precedes them and possibly don't feel the need for it ??
with you on the Kins tilty and unless you're planning on doing masses of side digging, the breakout/side thrust'd be adequate for most things ... forks might not be as powerful either, but at that size m/c, not really a concern ... the narrow profile of 'em makes up for a lot of any shortfall.
