Yeah been looking for a while and 150k€ seems an average sort of price - I would prob put something in the shed at the yard and do it over a couple of winters of rainy days.

With all the bits bolted on I’d guess £150k new, possibly more. Toyota have stopped making the big V8 diesel engines now so new ones are powered by 2.8l 4 cylinder gayness.

I follow him too. I think he's only got £25k in it. Although he had to retrofit air con in the cab as he picked up a French lass and her dog along the way.

My old race bus would of been just the thing I guess - I got it off a rallycross guy and it had all the full length awnings - and other associated kit and iirc a slight mod on the back so the arches of his motor would fit through the back doors

Money no object this would be my setup:
Use it for work happily in the week then all good to go for trips away and nimble enough to get most places.
Was very impressed by these guys https://www.m2overland.co.nz/ when I was down there earlier in the year....got a dream of importing them eventually...
Nothing against big rigs like Bedfords/MANs etc but do you really want to trundle about at 56 everywhere on your off time?

Those cells for back of pickups look pretty neat, and demontable, lots for sale over here 
we've just been doing a job in middle of little village and I know the aim isnt to go in the church car park but those big campers are a pita blocking it all up, god knows what a pain it is if you live somewhere proper touristy.
Big campers seem a selfish luxury if you plan on going round all the popular spots.

Spend 75k on modded crafter 4x4 that's never been off tarmac but then go and park up on carpark that display no overnight parking rather than support proper campsites. Absolutely gets my goat.
And then demonstrate to the world how utterly crap your are at driving the damn thing... FFS if you struggle getting it out your drive why bother attempting a mountain pass. Pricks.

Just buy a caravan, pull the axles off and mount it on a RoRo flat bed and your all done.

The road at bottom of winnats pass (which we’ve a job on in September) is currently a giant motorhome parking lot despite being a few big sites and a few farmers field jobs for £5-10 a night they’re all parked on rd. some have flower pots outside been their that long
Got this beautiful view and it’s blighted now by a load of diy campers etc

The 4x4 crafters aren't to bad. It's the ones with the cardboard backs that are truly awfully and usually driven by retirees who take it out once a year and drive a 106 the rest of the time
