I went to our local tip with a washing machine in the back of my truck but wasn’t allowed in because I was pulling my empty plant trailer as I was going to pick up a Wacker plate & wanted to drop the washing machine off as I was passing.

For us there's no vans allowed, you can get a pre booked slot but that's only for little vans, they won't accept a dropside transit. No trailers and no walk ins. You must sit outside in a huge que even if you only have 1item to drop off.

You can understand why people ring fly tipping fred for a cheap rubbish removal quote, just because it's so much agro to do it yourself.
absolutely ..... we all pay our council tax to fund these nazis .. if you can prove a residence in the relevant area there shouldn't be any argument ... obvious trade waste is a different matter - get a skip
30+ years ago when I was doing up my house I was in there a couple of times a week, got to know them all and was never a problem - private waste, end of story .. now all privatised and do WTF they like ... even have a shop there selling stuff that's been tipped

Our local tip surprised me recently, booked in with a trailer and they didn't bat an eyelid when I turned up with the tipper behind the land rover with a large sofa and a couple of beds on. Luck was in and a slot that I could reverse into appeared and we were offloaded and out before the smaller vehicles could get themselves organised 😀

Small trailer reversing watching at the tip is an amusement in its own right.🤣🤣

Looking like a bateson 8x4 is going to be the one . I can't wait the lead time on other options so hopefully it'll be ok .

My local tip is 6 trips per year for commercial vehicles and if you have a trailer hooked up it counts as two visits. They do take trade waste and is a case of going on the weighbridge which is fine for vans but ranger and trailer is too long to fit so I have to take the trailer off each weigh in.
It's crap I can get more in our smax and no restrictions (although don't as can't be arsed with removing kids seats then having to clean it all out afterwards)
I know of one gardener who sold his van and bought a beat up estate so tips for free. On top of that there is a do as you likey site right next door who don't seem to have to ever go over the weigh bridge or just dump their s**t everywhere else

It really feckin pushes my buttons . What difference does it make what vehicle your in , if it’s a sofa or a fridge you get in , if it’s a van load of commercial empty paint drums then it’s commercial waste , turn it away .

What makes it even worse round here is it's all run by private companies. Yet they seem to dictate the rules to the council not vice versa.
And the council are completely incapable of joined up thinking because the fly tips are cleaned up by a separate budget to the tips.

make sure it IS 8+ft x 4+ft internally Vin .. or you'll be carrying 8' x 4's on bearers, across the top lips of the trailer body :(

I have no problem with private companies doing the work but what I really fail to understand is how the council who are paying the bills constantly let the companies get away with this. Same goes for NHS railways and anything else government funded. If they can't deliver they should be held accountable. If they bid to low it should be their problem.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: .... you can't use that word in the same sentence as " government funded "
