Cant beat topping the field on a nice day in your open top tractor with an audio book on the bluetooth 3M’s.

I’ve never tried a flail, but doobin is right about reversing with a topper, great feature.

4WD is a must if your field has a wet patch!

Next year we are taking the 10 acre field back from the farmer who rents it and will be looking to start making our own square bales, if you think you might do this in future then consider a drum mower which will save you buying 2 impliments to cut grass!

I have an old 87 Ford 5610 1 previous owner with a 6 foot Flemming topper, and a set of 15ft Hacket folding chain harrows, Just want to get a follding set of rollers now, We have around 12 acres including a full sized arena with rubber surface, I occasionally run the chain harrows around it which gives it a really nice surface again.

Weather permitting I use this for topping, handy lightweight outfit. Topper was new last year, 6 foot 6 was £1350. Bought the 135 in oct 21 for £1750. Spent about a grand on it for a clutch, brakes and front tyres and a few wee bits and pieces. Now on loader duties for the rest of the winter

This old 38hp dog I had up for sale at 4k for three months and not even an offer. So I decided to keep her and actually she’s great. Only 1200 (hard) hours.

Not hydro but something like that would do you. Shuttle gearbox, creeper speeds, electric pto, two spools with float. A heck of a lot of tractor for your money.

I had one v similar for 10 years, but iirc it was 35hp ....used it when we did more landscaping type work, it was a great unbreakable little thing, sounds decent value to me.

My dad bought this ‘old dog’ very second hand for £2k about 15 years ago, and he used it every week on his 10 acre ‘patch’ with a topper, harrows to rake his drive, pallet forks for shifting cages of logs etc etc.
I essentially inherited it 18 months ago and haven’t really had any use for it but have also not wanted to move it on for sentimental reasons.
I ended up buying a stone burier that is (on paper) much too big for it (instead of a G-Rake by the way…). I had limited expectations but wanted to test the concept and it turns out that it is absolutely perfect (but only because the tractor is hydrostatic) - the burier needs an extra 10hp on paper (and definitely would at a fixed speed) but is wider than the wheelings so it leaves a really tidy job and can creep along in heavy ground.
