What are the smaller petrol ped rollers like?
Bit pointless tbh.

Handy for patching bigger but that aren’t worth a full ped roller but that wacker would make a mess of
We’ve the bw55 does ok job on tarmac and great on self binding gravels where wacker leaves lines in
I'm not sure but would have thought a roller would compaction more than equivalent weight plate? Smaller surface area etc? I get what you are saying though. Quite happy to use them to consolidate a bit of surface dressing and leave a tidy finish but probably not the right tool where your relying on proper compaction from the get go.I find a decent Wacker plate leaves less lines and makes less mess. Especially on tarmac. Only advantage i find of ped rollers is speed on large areas.
If you already have one in the arsenal then they do a good job, but beyond blinding they aren't the best tool for the job

A plate generally requires more passes than a roller but same level of compaction is potentially achievable.
Some of it is to do with frequency of vibration too.
Alot of people think the vibrations make the plate heavier, it's actually the frequency of the vibrations reducing friction between particles.
I also am specifically talking about ped rollers. Became they are so awkward to steer and Ballance. Ride on rollers are a different kettle of fish.
Although i still find it easier to get a good finish using a Wacker plate.
I have done some big areas of tarmac with a single direction bomag and got them to come up perfect.
always see a slight line somewhere with a roller, on handlay atleast.
the lines could be down to the rake!
deffo ... cheap2.5K locally. Reckon its worth a look? I know nothing about these.

+1I’d allready be looking at 2.5k![]()
Had a look this evening. 1100.hours (not convinced on accuracy) throttle handle not hitting stops. Lots of oil around bottom of engine. Appearing to not put any drive to rear drum, getting stuck on level muddy ground. Front drum has about 15mm side to side play. When in vibrate mode and full forward it
