I'm actually now wishing I'd taken you up on the offer🤦. I haven't really tried selling the case other than on here, now a mate is possibly buying it but wishes to haggle over lighbulbs- the negotiations continue 😩

You sold the old digger and tilty for £25,000

The cost difference is £41,000 - £25,000 = £16000. Divide that by 3500 hours and you get £4.57. It's good, but that's about where I'd expect the Bobcat to end up if I'd run it for another 1500 hours.

If you just subtracted the old diggers sale price from it's new price then my bobcat 'only cost £3.57 per hour depreciation'- but that's not true as a new one cost us both more.

Am I missing something?

I thought the depreciation of a machine was worked out based on what you bought and sold that machine for? That's how you view it with cars isn't it?
I said my new machine will never match my old one - purely on the fact that used prices went up so much when I came to sell it.
Why are you taking into account the price of the new machine? Unless its as a relative price to the used market at the time? But not really a fair comparison as my new one was bare stick and the tilty only came with a grading bucket - whereas the old one had a hitch and 5 buckets which were sold technically writing off some of its initial purchase value. Same with the attachments I kept for the tilty - they would write down my first tilty price quite significantly giving overall very different figures for the depreciation!
I dunno, there's a reason I drive machines and its not so I can do complicated maths. I buy diggers, I drive diggers, and I try not to sell them too often :LOL:

True but then depreciation costings is almost pointless unless your not planning on replacing it. Much like selling a house, bouyant market is only good if your not having to replace ..

How many hrs was on the ez26 when you sold it. That sounds very low depreciation for a newish machine...
