Pumps for concrete, are a good earner but not sure on costs for the units or insurances plus can be very dangerous if anything goes wrong. 2-4 jobs a day at £300 odd a pop for a line pump won't take long to recoup money

That market here has been taken on by the volumetric concrete boys. Great service when you have there pump!!

Genrally no, sometimes as a favour. I'm a landscaper so have a few bits of equipment including a digger. Funnily enough the guy I brought my digger off was downsizing his plant hire business due to the stress of it! He was often not paid and kept awake at night worrying about his gear when it was out.

Mick George refused to send concrete a few months back unless they were supplying the pump
Alot of the lads round here seem to use the same guy but he gets paid on site rather than though the concrete lads

we looked at crushers a few times, you need to send them out operated really as they quite easily get a blockage and its usually not the machines fault........

I used them years ago when working away one week. I think they have taken on far more than just muck away. I seem to think at some point they where doing extensions under the name ‘Mick’s mates’. Intergrated supply chain management is the word that is used now!!

as for the OP, have a look at the posh bogs hired out for wedding/parties. Much better return and less damage i would imagine.

Hi mate thanks for the reply! Most similar companies specialise in these light towers aswell that would definitely be in the plans to look into! Does he keep busy with them then?

doubtful in the last two years ......
but can imagine it's a lucrative "sideline" ...
went to a wedding evening do a few weeks ago and that had two towers around the marquee area ...
was 'kin dark out of their range .... excellent lighting within their 'umbrella'
think marquees'll be even more popular for wedding do,s with all the various do,s and don't,s to be complied with at fixed venues

I have got a mate who bought a few trailer freezers and hires them out to events and to restaurants pubs etc who want extra freezer storage he also use to do mobile kitchens but sold that business

I've noticed someone round here doing that.

I heard a rumour a few years ago that was 1 of the reasons Hewdens went bust. Allegedly a Speed y director joined hewdens bought 1 plus million of light towers then left went back to speed y. That contributed to Speed y acquisition of hewdens

Crushers - Small ones are a pipe dream for people that fantasize that dicking around spending a day crushing 10t of rubble is better than a grab lorry..... they don't work unless the jaw size is double that of a concrete block and by that time there is rarely enough concrete to warrant bringing one in.

Long and short there is no cheap easy self earners..... Yes a few are doing well with small plant ATM as there is more demand than supply..... give it 12 months and reality will reappear with the national hirers throwing stuff out for free.

If you want a winner.... Compaction Equipment such as Bomag 80's, pedestrian rollers and larger compactor plates are good but costly.
