When I built my bungalow I bought a 3 bed mobile home I found it alright but Iam easy pleased shed would have done me
I have done barn conversions and they do seem to take longer than new builds.one I done we done an outbuilding first fitted a few kitchen units cooker fridge and devided of a bedroom and couple moved in there while we done barn up and made it into a studio when barn finished
Have you consided building a woodern building instead of mobilehome and using it afterwards as office or something

Last few places we have built we’ve lived in them as we go, but we have a newborn now so won’t put her through that, caravan will be going under one of the large sheds so won’t be so bad over winter. Garage will be getting built first but will be used for storage predominantly

Dont forget the cost of moving it.
It soon stacks up.

100miles can cost £400-600

Any caravan sites (non pikey) nearby? They often don't want vans on site over a certain age, either try direct or find out who moves them for them and see if any for sale. I wonder if with covid they might be thin on the ground?

Very thin on the ground,,really bad time to buy one, just got to hope in a years time the demand is still there for resale!
they just have lodges around here, which would never move again!

A lot of sites have been going over to lodges from caravans over the last few years round here as well. 10k budget you could probably build something or convert a portacabin?

how about a 40ft x 12 ft portacabin ... wouldn't take a huge effort to split one up with a few studs and kit it out with a kitchen area ..... probably find one easier than a static ATM ..... or even a couple of 30 x 12s and use one to live in, one to sleep in and an office ;)

My grandad was in a resi one near here. Bought 20 years ago brand-new for less than 40k. Had to pay ground rent on his plot. Auntie sold it last year for 80k after he passed and still needs to pay ground rent. Worlds gone mad.
