If it tilted both ways it would be a lot more use imho. The fact they only tilt to one side means you have to work the right way round which just isn't always possible.
Wonder what there like. How often would you use it. Like a poor mans tilt hitch

tilt bucket probably be just as effective unless your tight to a wall

Makes the machine sit pretty high off the tracks too wonder if it makes it unstable especially zts 🧐

There not my favorite little machine the cabs small and gets very hot on a warm day, they always feel a little underpowered but I'm not convinced that's not because you sit so high you just expect it to be a bigger machine (no chance of lifting a bulk bag even against the blade).

The vds is handy if your working one track up a kerb or on a slope but it's not a substitute for being able to level yourself

I've never been on a wacker neuson digger so have no idea what they are like but have had 3 different dealers for them over the last 15 years within half hour from me. Admittedly first 2 sold other digger brands and only had the franchise for the dumper but neither of the 3 has ever made any headway selling the diggers. It just makes you wonder as if they were really as good as some say they are why don't i see any anywhere 🤷‍♂️

Not worth the premium price I’d say. VDS is a crappy gimmick, much better off with a powertilt.

I've tried them.

They are lovely machines, if anything like there dumpers they are well built and extremely reliable.

But the issue with selling them seems to be that they are a unusual brand in the UK, and the dealers either have them priced cheap or are pretending there made of gold.

Definitely not a crappy gimmick if you’ve got the right job. If there wasn’t a demand, people wouldn’t buy them at the price Wacker ask over and above. But they do sell, and if you had enough of the right work and tried one out, you’d know why.

What is the right work? They raise the centre of gravity (not good on banks), and only tilt one way. Where would they be better than a Powertilt hitch?

Yes, it raises the cg, but on a side slope it also centres it over the tracks. Put a normal 3 - 5 tonne machine on a 15 degree side slope and see how far over to one side the weight is. Yes, additional applications are limited, but sit your arse on one before you write the idea off. Advantage? Working In rock, a tilty isn’t the most robust weapon, but with one of these you can pin a bucket on and dig a narrow vertical hole with full force. Of course, you could use a tilty, move twice as much soil as you need while gripping the seat with your cheeks, lose your swing speed because you’re leaning over. I’m not a Wacker salesman, but I’ve been on an EZ38 for long enough to know the idea works.

If you need a bit more of an idea, there’s more than one YouTube film of EZ’s at work. There are a few applications I hadn’t thought of.

The vds works but I don't think you'll be digging in much more than easy going with a ez28 they won't even pick themselves off the floor I normally like wacker machines but there a long way off the mark with there 3t machines

The EZ38 isn’t shy of power. Haven’t been on the smaller ones.
