Mrs tasked me with getting a new TV we’ve been suffering with a 38” after I broke the 55” throwing remote at it in the 6 nations a few years ago lol ( in my defence was only slim credit card remote but it cracked the screen lol )

So as it’s Black Friday etc what should I be looking for thinking Samsung as it’s what we’ve got/had previously around 60-70”

Oled?

I used to be a geek all over this stuff now out of touch

mine went fecked the other week, went to curry’s, nearly lost my rag with the bloke and his bullshit, went round the corner to Argos, picked one of the cheapest, 55” bush, £320. More than good enough and a lot better pictur then the 8yo it replaced. Tbh I think tech has moved on that much with tv’s that us gentlemen of a certain age that started with a set the size of on an 8yd skip with no remote would think any modern tv is great

Personally I think 55 is a good size. Unless you want to let the neighbours watch as well 🤣
Samsung decent and 4K etc £500 will sort you

Depends on room size. I've tried sitting at the recommended distance for a 55in TV at my in-laws house and find it to big. Our living room setup should have a 55in TV according to the guides but we find the 43in one nice to watch. I personally would want to be sat back and extra couple of meters for a bigger TV.
I would like a 55in TV for looking at drawings though. Or a smart board projector

I’m using our Panasonic Plasma 42”circa 15+ years old. Fantastic sound and doubles as a room heater. About 498 watts draw on it!
Guess people use sound bars now so the TV sound quality less important.

I just brought 75 inch Hisense out of Costco but it wouldn’t fit in the mrs car so had to go pick it up with the lorry on the way back from a job.
From what I understand about tv’s is LED is bottom of the range, QLED is medium range & OLED are top of the range. I give £730 for a 75 inch Hisense but was looking at some of the OLED telly’s but at £4000 to £6000 thought how could you spend that much on a telly

Does anyone actually watch TV? YT only for me plus keep one eye on news on phone that's it.
Kids have never watched a dot of TV in their lives.
My TV remote died 4 years ago, only watched my iPad since 😆 mainly YouTube but I do still watch the iplayer and amazon prime.
Really had to force myself to buy the TV in the first place, and it was only 150 quid from sainsburys- actually carried 1 right round the shop then put it back and spent the money on an sds drill the next morning 😆 🤣

My mrs if I turned up with that 🫣 do you have a special room ?
We did a lot a work for this famous geezer from the movies over here and he had a movie room with a massive screen......
so he could make all his friends and family sit down and watch his films i guess :)
