Turf cutting bucket

I'm assuming if you're wanting to cut the turf to do a v tidy job it's not a rough arse horse field you're digging through. Can you not hire a proper turf cutter from a garden machinery place?
Yes and you can usually buy a shovel from a hire place too :ROFLMAO:

Can't beat being able to do 90% of the job from a seat, with no hire costs!

What man as done, man can do, what never has, maybe
Mk2 already designed! Trouble is you wouldn't want anything welded to the bucket that would ipnterfer with other day to day operations.
Ok tack it on, just on one side, will soon break off when you lever it off the opposite side😉

Me being lazy🤫 I would have the ‘pair of discs’ on an axle to to the right width then weld a short end of channel that the discs axle fits in snuggly on the back of the bucket, so just locate the axle pull a digging length, lift the bucket of the axle pull the trench and repeat👍 all done without leaving the cab😉
Similar idea if I`m reading yours right, 2 discs on an axle with some form of channels going forward, with a lip on the front edge to hook the cutting edge/teeth into and then sit the bottom of the bucket onto the channels in use?

On a serious note unless you come up with something which can do the job as well as a proper turf cutter i can't see enough advantage over cutting turf out with a bucket. I've a 450 bucket with no teeth for both 4 and 9 tonner and that does a good enough job that if it needed to be better for a job I'd say you'd need turf cutter quality. Just don't be greedy and try and lift more than double length of bottom of bucket.

I really like this idea Mogs . I could actually get that made up locally as well quite quick .
Any chance you can scribble a cross section of it ? I would have the discs slightly wider than the bucket so it cuts a little wider than the dig

Would put disks on next bucket up to the one your intending to dig with as one rock or lapse in judgement you have shagged the neat sides you have gained

Your ideas go me thinking . Could I weld a length of channel full width on the back of bucket that drops down over the axle which has 2 sleeves welded on it leaving the width of the bucket between them and then the discs attached to the axle after the sleeves . This would keep the discs evenly spaced slightly wider than the bucket and as in Mogs/Craig’s version held in by the force of the bucket until I lift up then it’ll come off

This kind of idea I'm thinking.

Wonder if a couple of old diamond blades would work

I posted a link earlier in the thread to the correct items with hubs available.
They are relatively common as fitted to a lot of plows the cut the sward before the mole board passes through. I should think there is a selection of them in every hedgerow in the country
