Trailers

It's easily done, but 3.5t tipping trailers are heavy enough as it is. And elsewhere in this thread, you have multiple people referencing low load heights as a selling point.

It could probably be done with a hinge in the chassis behind the rear axle. Would just require a fancy design so a single ram would lift the back of the trailer first then tip it without adding to much weight.
I think larrington hi tip trailers work like this so as to keep weight down.

The new tailgate release arm design is shocking on the tt3017. I removed the tailgate before tipping some rubble so it didn’t get battered, some lumps caught the arm and bent it 🤬

Yeah, the tailgate design is really crap on the new Ifor tippers. I’ve had 2 and neither really worked properly from new. Actually contemplating a third as I’m sat here writing this, I must need my bumps felt 😂

Plywood deck on the bateson puts me off a bit, the nugent looks lovely, hardened steel floor would cope better than aluminium you get on the ifors, and the suspension looks interesting.... it's leaf springs with some kind of dampener. Gonna be pricey though 😢
Bateson will custom build you anything within reason wouldn’t take much to ask them for a steel or ally floor

My ally floor has a few big dents from people throwing big lumps in unsympathetically or once I dropped my 5 finger grab off 1.6 ton and it landed point down that was first dent 😭😭 had hooked it with bucket then gone up ramps

Asphalt seems to stain the ally worse than steel floor tempted to have a hot box trailer just not to stain tipper lol

Don't complain - suggest what's better

Bateson were always very accomodating to me when I wanted custom mods, unlike Ifor who had no interest at all. Great company to deal with.

He's impressed thus far had ifirs for a lifetime. Also got the plant trailer. Says it's silent!
Let's see as he's notoriously not kind on stuff😂 I think that headboard would annoy me ..

Ifor have sat on their laurels that's the trouble. Whilst they may have come up with the blueprint that most trailers are based on today the other companies have all made improvements and modified accordingly , apart from the plant trailer I'd not consider anything ifor in their current range over bateson/Nugent
