Torque wrench recommendations

We are currently doing a tank job that req PN16 flanges to be torqued. I have an old ½ inch 1 but not confident with it. It always seems to work loose when using it.
I like look of the wera 1s but they aren't cheap

I just updated mine ..

Went for norbar for 1/2..very chuffed with it.

And wera 1/4 for faffy stuff which is beut. And kid has a carbon MTB which needs checking all time ... litterally and only like 9nm.

Norbar seemed a good deal

I have that one as I needed something that went quite high for my old chipper blades, very nice to use and I would buy it again but like you say not the cheapest

Literally bought a new torque wrench last week, couldn't find any reviews or comparisons for the wera, did find a group test for a few other models which the Halfords came top for accuracy.

Ended up buying the Halfords 300nm torque wrench, works out at £102 including vat with the trade card

The Halfords one looks identical, just different coloured insert red Vs blue

Same as the digital ones, mega money but are they really anymore accurate? Or more handy that they will log how many times the wrench has been used to bring up calibration time, the test cert with the Halfords was well within the +/- 3% margin, I'll dig it out tomorrow but is probably closer to 1%

I’ve got an Aldi win lol that was like £18 with a case tested it with dads big snap on one and was near enough for the once every 2 years I need to not 10 ugga dugga stuff

Can't you test them yourself by sticking it in a vise and using a spring balance and some maths?

Mechanical, Norbar. Digital, SnapOn. The big thing with digitals is with torque/angle fastenings they’ll measure the initial torque then automatically measure the angle, which is useful if you do a lot of head bolts or internal engine work. They all go out of calibration over time but the better ones take longer.

I've just bought a case of Halfords Advanced sockets etc. Quality doesn't feel quite as good as a couple of friends' kits bought 2 and 10 years ago. I've felt confident with their Halfords torque wrenches in the past but would look more closely before buying one now.

I bought the box of impact sockets, the impact torx, plus the Allen/hex socket set all of those seemed decent and the impact set similar quality to my 8+ old set. Also when doing the drums had to buy a set of the "professional" circlip pliers but they are a bit s**t

I took a whole set of Halfords Advanced ratchet spanners back. Three were bent and all ratchet mechanisms felt considerably rougher than the advertised tooth count. A set of eBay specials at a third of the price were much better quality, which I took with me to prove the point when returning them.

I've got a big set of Normal ones from 5 years ago they've been really good
