Thwaites 3 ton swivel dumper clutch sensor switch

Dumpers clutch needs to be depressed to start it, the switch is playing up meaning you have to lift floor plate press with finger then it starts. Otherwise turns over but doesn’t fire.

straight swap of switch or can it be shorted out?

If the switch is working with finger then you could try checking the mechanical interference between it and the pedal.

looking at the multi bullet it connects to, they're only using two of the three, presumably the NO contacts, third wire'd be NC ... could short it out or put a momentary toggle on the dash in parallel / in place of it ...... std assembly though .. have a look on RS ... might even have a couple here - will have a look

rubber boot on it has survived well

Yeh -- good shout .... you never know ...... but if it's operable with a finger it's not the switch as said .... actuator finger is worn/bent ... wrap some tape around it as a 'pro tem' measure and see how it goes

Go to thwaites jcb or whoever they'll want £90/100 for those switches. I've had them off ebay occasionally for £30 ish new. You can actually take them to bits and clean the contacts inside, I've found that they often get a little spike sticking up on one contact so they don't break the contact so file it or flick it off and they're good to go. They are held together where the bolts go through (its basically a sleeve with the ends flared, just drill the flare off one end and push it out).

If it works by finger, then it can be adjusted manually on the little screws and 6mm nuts, or check that hat the clutch pedal hasn’t worn and misses the switch.

You can just join wires together and do away with switch which i was gonna do on my benford ages ago but decided to fix it properly instead (different type of switch just needed contacts cleaning). With 2 nephews about the place (nearly 2 and 5) and doubtless friends of theirs in years to come little extra safety feature ain't a bad thing.

I would say a little adjustment on the stop bolt you can see below the switch may be needed, to compensate for wear.

ive taken peddle off and brought it home for some Tlc bought it few years ago and its been working every since never needed to tart it up or look at it till in plays up lol no spare time as it is let alone time to spend messing with dumper the lads abuse anyway lol
