And yet still pathetic compared to decent timber grab on a fixed rotator….

I did start with a manual grapple though. Did me well for five years and I still have it for occasional use on the micro.

Yeah deffo get that but for almost beer money they can transform a machine

I bought one of these for moving rocks. You can fit some decent sized lumps in between the jaws.

I was hoping to use the aux lines. No idea whether they are single or double acting. Better read the manual.

Look under the floor where your left foot would be, mine has a valve to switch between single and double acting

I had the manual grapples for a while too but that's almost the worst of both worlds as still can't use with a bucket so the convenience is lost.There's no point comparing a thumb to a rotating grab. One is purely a handling tool and very good at it the other revolutionises a standard machine and bucket to something that can also handle at the same time and thus massively aides efficiency.

What I don't get looking at it is that yes I can see how it would work as a grab but surely the moment you want to use the bucket the thumb bit needs to be well out of the way where surely it will just foul against the dipper

not yet ,going to move the pins about to fit ,mainly have a job coming with a lot of rock

its not for that type of use i dont think , we will see what its like on the machine

i have a manual thumb on the digger ,was going to change it for hydraulic one ,but saw this and thought why not ,my existing thumb i bent to buggery pulling big lenghts of trees around and twisted it

I've seen them used by forestry people where bucket work is minimal but they don't want a dedicated grab. Alot of videos of those buckets show them on stump removal prior to mounding up on clear fell sites.

Yeah but tilty and thumb aren't the same tool or for the same application.

You will also need to make sure your machine has double acting hydraulic lines which I don't think is common on these Kubotas, luckily mine did for some reason.

if you look at the valve block on the Kubota micros, the aux is a double acting valve but one side is blanked. i Think the ports are 7/16” UNF, you just need to alter the pedal and away you go. Will be doing the same to my K008 when time allows. I did connect a gauge to the unused ports and manually move the valve to prove this off on my machine.
