I think someone may have posted something similar. But I was surprised to find the non electric version working in one of the domes. Had a nice chat with the operator.

40mm rings a bell, as I remember thinking it seemed a bit small and there’d be a limit to the shaft length you’d want if the max size was going to be 40mm square.
I know there was a larger one but hellish expensive. There’s a green waste machine local to me that got a similar star fitted, they are on a much bigger shaft from what the owner told me and I seem to remember him saying they were £15-20 each!
you were right James ..... (y) should think 3ft'd be about the limit for axle/spindle lengths to keep 'em straight :unsure:..... what size did you make yours?

Can’t recall exactly. But I think the bucket is about 2m wide, so id say the screening are is 1.8-1.85 ish. So probably .9 ish per side on shafts.

so you had a centre support flange and bearings did you ? didn't recall it being that big :oops: .... some screening area that :cool: .... dare say some pix'd go down well here boyo (y)

The two sides are independent. So yes bearings in the middle.

New roller for one of the flail collectors. No wonder the old roller couldn’t stick the pace, it was so light you could pick it up with one hand.

The old bearings snapped the casting rather than pull off so waiting for new before test fitting and final welding. That lathe is a good size for this kind of work, makes it easy.

yeh those rollers are about 1.6-2mm .. crap really for the hiding they take ...... not gonna bend the new one in a hurry :giggle::giggle: ............. or pick it up with one hand ;):)

that is some screening bucket James :oops: .... few bobs-worth of stars in there ... I make it about 260-270 :oops: ... quite an investment in plastic, let alone the steelwork .... VERY nice piece of work
308 I think? Yes it felt like a lot of money at the time. It could do with the bottom 3 rows replacing now really.

yep ..... 14 rows of 22 ... I missed two rows ....... serious investment in them ..... IIRC it was chain driven??
