Tp = toss pots 🤪
Tatty Products

I use them for drainage (Osma) as I get really good rates, everything else I don't have rates set up and invariably get shafted.

Only good thing about Travis really is their coverage, in London you never seem to be more than 10 mins away from a branch which is bloody handy. Annoyingly the one near my yard has just closed down.

Out of interest what discount do they give you? I’ve just swapped to osma via jewson , mkm changed from polypipe to Brett - which is horrendous crap for UG stuff, some serious negotiating got it cheaper than previous polypipe and Brett!!

Something like 90% off list

Keyline near me want twice as much for the same gear, I nearly unloaded everything I'd put on the van until the guy on the till let slip I could call Travis and have the same rates applied with a quote sent over 🙄

We use Travis and new sons for the bare minimum. Specialist suppliers beat them every time. We tend to use burden civils, rouden pipetek and ru-pipe. Ru-pipe are a small supplier with one yard. But they can get everything to you quicker than the big firms.
Like wise the best builders merchants use to be the little one with one depot. They have sold to a bigger group but remain seperate. Still good but lost there edge I think.

I only use them when out of area or for certain things my normal merchant doesn't stock

Depending on what mood the counter staff are in if it's not your regular you can be better off with a Wickes trade card. Don't know recently but but there was a point they where cheapest for plasterboard. And I think they are still very keen on cement. Just difficult to get whole pallet loads off them.

How much for cement?

Paid £5.30/bag from Burdens recently for whole pallet, cheapest I've had for a good while.

Travis wouldn't go under 7 quid for ages but started doing deals again

About the same, I got them to 89% off list, not the cheapest on pipe still but it’s damn good stuff so I’m happy paying for quality over brittle crap!

C&W Berry my go to . These just their web prices:
Heidelberg 5.89 plus vat or 5% off for full pallet . You can bend their arm a bit more than that for pallets .
Berry's are ruddy good. Still uk's biggest single site independent merchant.

I like to send an email out to suppliers and then bcc the other merchants in, so they know it's gone to several but dont know who! It's amazing how much more competitive they can be!

I think your being generous hiding who it is. I love telling them they are more than xyz.
Trying to buy some vans this week and the Merc lady is desperate and finding every possible way to make a sale except dropping the price. I keep telling her reversing cameras are great but your still 5 grand more than Toyota. Of which she told me I had to expect to pay premium for Mercedes quality. So I had to correct her to nissan / Renault quality and a nice badge.

E19 earning her corn today. They didn’t want the willow cut despite it being on a footpath- so anyhow, I said I could work around it!

Milwaukee staple gun means we will be out of here in an hour. Happy days.
