Put a signal genny on it should be able to trace the whole route

I’ve got a tracer reel which is great for finding routes, and will fit up a 3/8” water line. Harder to tell exactly where it ends sometimes, with drainage it would be nice to find the exact spot of the tee or hidden chamber a little more easily. I assume that’s the purpose of a sonde? Does one use the CAT to find it ?

Switch the CAT to signal mode, usually 33hz, the more complicated CATs aimed at utility tracing use other frequencies

Your standard small sonde, usually 40-50mm in diameter and about 150mm long with the rod mounting point are good to a 5.0m depth, otherwise up to 8 and 10m depth is 80 to 70mm in diameter and about 250-300mm long and usually taped to the line behind a crawler

Never used a reel tracer.

Oh and which ever you chose a spot of gaffer tape is your friend always good to have a backup in case it works loose

Todays job is a long avoided task. Painting the inside of our semi converted single garage. That wall was the door (still there) that I insulated and boarded over last year. Friend of mine skimmed it and I’ve avoided painting it ever since. Gradually converting into utility room/gym (wife uses mostly).
I think I’d rather work as a loft insulator than as a decorator TBH.

About 4 hours of my life taken for a blocked shower... which turned out to be the whole row of Semis blocked up. Chambers all hidden below rotton decking. Chambers changing direction and some missing ones under a footpath and then it all came back at acute angle to a mascar bowl at the front of the house. Pulled one of my brand new blue Bailey rods apart .. manufacturing defect.
Gave in and went and got the pressure washer/jetter and that sorted it promptly! Never seen a mascar bowl work so well

Mascar Bowls. Not made any more. Designed to cope with large drops in level by spinning the waste to take the velocity out, then dropping it down vertically to next level. Pretty cool when you suddenly get a couple 1000 litres of shite coming down through

I’ve already eaten humble pie there, those tough buckets are bloody brilliant. Only buckets you can trust to knock up mortar in with a paddle mixer on a drill.

I assumed (incorrectly) that they were practically indestructible… I was carrying one full of mortar to load my builder on the scaffolding and one side of the handle tore through the plastic, and the hooked end ‘bit’ me in the web between my thumb and finger. Oh how I laughed!…
