Up in the wilds off grid trust property for game keeper, 2 generators on red.

We’ve lost the septic tank…..

Camera and sonde and located it thought was just a one chamber job but actually 2 so need another lid. Had to replace last 2 metres as roots had got in the pipe

I quite like a septic tank job. Trying to slowly take on more of the smelly work , although most of the lads prefer working on the indoor plumbing!

I would be happy to do water treatment all dry weather and take winter off ....for one reason and another its never panned out that way

Supposed to be a nice simple job today. Replacing a 20m section of leaking 1960s black alakathene. It was on a 750m section with 3 properties and 60 years of farmer modifications so Impressed ourselves narrowing it down so well.
30mins in we found the soil pipe we knew we had to cross. Bloody bitumen pipe. Decided to follow it to locate the tee we knew was there.. then found it all broken and disappearing downwards. Turns out that back in the 60s the lads decided to fill in the old well and run the bitumen soil pipe across it. In the intervening 60 years it had sunk about 500mm creating a massive U bend that somehow was still passing solids, although blocking ever couple of months. I pulled a 15ft length of vertical steel pipe out so know it was a well. No mine shafts near here.
Rest of day went well till I found the next section of black bitumen pipe . Had a hole in it that was existing as soil below was black. Beneath that we found a clay drain that must have been the original waste pipe before the place got a proper septic tank after the war. No way of dating it so assume Edwardian or Victorian.
Back tomorrow to put it all back together.

Been meaning to ask - anyone got any tricks to keep the roots out of septic lines?
In germany, copper flashing and ridge capping is still common and it's interesting to see that nothing grows on the roof below some copper flashing.
Had to replace my own soak line a couple of months ago, so I coiled a copper wire around the perf poly pipe.
Trouble is, I won't know for twenty years if it's helped!

In germany, copper flashing and ridge capping is still common and it's interesting to see that nothing grows on the roof below some copper flashing.
Had to replace my own soak line a couple of months ago, so I coiled a copper wire around the perf poly pipe.
Trouble is, I won't know for twenty years if it's helped!

Modern plastic installed well seems to do ok

Most root Ingress I’ve seen is in old cracked salt glaze

That was my plan to just do tanks but need a back up plan for winter

That iveco is a beast

Can be driven in a standard license if its the same as the one i posted a few years ago. Some type of trailer setup that acts like a ridged

Not been up to anything too interesting lately, was grading some crushed today and seen a shiny metal rod, so picked it up as looked too clean to have gone through a crusher, fast forward a few hours, after loadi g the machine on the trailer and locking up it turns out, it was the door hinge bolt off my 8026, less than three years old and sub 400 hours and on top of that the screen still leaks after 3 attempts

No idea what the iveco is tbh handy sort of thing though.

Put a ditch along top to help with the water...it ran like a stream but still not enough to stop us getting washed out.
Impressive skies though.

The top hinge pin on my Takeuchi door has a habit of migrating up for some reason and needs tapping back into place occasionally.

Nothing overly special about the job. Just sticking some stiles in as part of a bigger project I'm on at the moment. But was enjoyable taking the dumper out on to the moors to get there and negotiating some pretty awkward terrain in places- boulders and bogs. Cracking weather and view though.
