Continuing with track improvements, had been water running down it constantly dug down and water bubbling up followed it down to an old suff/sough drain (basically flat rock, 2 rocks to form sides and flat rock on top.

Took some rodding but got it free and water running, been destroying this lane and wasn’t really in our scope of works but wasn’t having soaking our mot so we couldn’t whack it rain was doing good enough job of that.

Started getting some grids down on top half to top off with 20mm to dust 110m2 going down.

End of the world here so not much signal so missed end of rb auction

What is a good jetting solution that’s not a dedicated trailer or tractor mounted jetter.

I’ve a 1500 trailer water bowser and 13hp jet wash any good for jetter or need more?

What’s the half round broken bit off…?

That’s a chipper blade (well, half of one anyway!).
Not sure where the other half is (I’d guess July or August 2025).
It has made a mess on its way through sadly…

All dug and laid by hand those stone culverts eh - imagine the reaction you'd get showing a couple of lads a pile of stones, some hand tools and tasking them that job !

We've got alot of around here like that- all done by prisoners of war- and also Conscientious Objectors during WW1. Those blokes certainly knew what they were doing as many are still operating well 100 years later

2, telehandler got a fuel bug and gunked the tank up and filters
3, trommel idler wheel snapped off
4, trommel drive wheel oil seal leaking
5, because of this the drive wheel is now gone slippery and keeps slipping on the drum
6, reversed into the back of a pick up (had a guy watching me back )

Bet that went with a bang

The lads ‘heard a funny noise’ apparently!
The job it happened on has been a total disaster - 30m of lapsed hedgerow with a few bigger trees to fell/chip/log up. 2 man easy day, priced cheap as a bit of a favour to an old customer. They are desperate for it to be gone as are applying for planning on a listed building and have stated there are no trees on site (none of my business!)…
Sent a team one afternoon last week thinking they’d get it boxed off easily - their chipper stopped feeding so they only got half done (it turned out that particular machine’s rubber-damped crank pulley has started to break up and subsequently slip - the stress control reads the speed from the alternator output so the machine thought it wasn’t revving high enough therefore switched off the hydraulics).
Another team went yesterday and their chipper broke down with an apparent fuel issue before the job was finished. I spent a couple of frustrating hours talking them through fixes over the phone (including ‘put more diesel in it’) but no luck - the job still wasn’t finished last night and a chipper was abandoned on the customer’s property.
I was going home last night anyway so decided to sort it this morning as would be local (I was certain it would be an easy fix and the lads would be able to finish the job with the broken down chipper). I ended up replacing the online and spin-on fuel filters, chucking another 25l of diesel in it, sucking/blowing/drinking from fuel hoses etc etc and still couldn’t get the bugger running!
I sent the lads to grab this job’s 3rd chipper (which is the one that ate its blade!) while I pinched a lift pump and diesel stop solenoid off yet another machine to test on the broken down one, and whilst I was robbing parts I had the call about the blade….
I might have said some naughty words at that point (I definitely questioned my life choices!).
(It turns out the chipper with the fuel problem I struggled with this morning simply had a kinked diesel return hose ffs!!!!!!)

Basically I’ve been ranting (to my wife/the lads/anyone who will listen) that we are going to stop doing private jobs as they aren’t worth the hassle! A day here and there for a 2 man team is a total load of bollocks - I only do it to keep my original customers (and their friends etc) happy. Way way way more hassle than it’s worth. A breakdown on a £10k plus job is an inconvenience, on a sub-£1k ‘fitter-inner’ it can become a massive ballache!

We are working backwards as the field will be pumped into.
The theory is we hope the connection then can be done in a few hours so the client stays online.
Just hope we get our levels correct
