Not exactly todays job, but nice to have a project to get stuck into for the new year.

No pics, but the service kit made its way onto the Engcon. Apart from 2 flanged bushes on the tilt ram axle as they will Ned cutting to get them out. It is all a lot tighter and the sloppiness is now showing in the dipper bushes which will need attention next. Too much on for the next few weeks to be thinking about doing them yet. Along with doing the ram seals on the bucket ram and probably do the boom also, there are a couple of hoses that could do with being changed before they let go. Machine still runs sweet and after putting 3000hrs on it without major works I can’t really complain. This is just the time now to sort these bits and be prepared to keep pushing the hours up!!

I'd still be there next week i think it was left there to throw in the bin I actually tried cutting a 2 inch piece I'd missed on the van after cleaning up, it was blunter than a prostitute with a punter with no money

Tight old squeeze today. The DitchWitch was just the ticket for the steep slope up, squeeze past the scaffold and then having enough push to load the bucket fully.

Sherpa would have been no use whatsoever here. Very much a day of extremes. Lovely and dry under the scaffold but got piss wet through driving the loader. Then as we got onto the soil underneath it was so dry half of it blew out the bucket before I had time to tip it. And of course I was downwind. Trying not to hit my head or the dipper ram on the scaffold as I got a face full. Failed on both counts if you’re wondering.

Nice to get the DitchWitch out of the shed for the first time in months- was starting to think I’d made a mistake buying her. Need to move a bit of stone around a job tomorrow and strip and load a small area so will use her for that too. Thinking with the float on the loader arm she will run the Sherpa leveller well also.

I like the Ditch Witch, Doob. It’s like a mini-963. How easy are they to operate standing up for long periods? The only similar machine I’ve been on was an Opico Skidster and never had more than half an hour at a time on it.

Provided access for demolition and then just for a roof during building over winter. Much of it is a cantilever to allow room to dig the footings.

Apparently it cost around a grand. I’d say that’s cheap to allow easy all weather working over the winter!

I prefer driving the Sherpa. On hard surfaces you get shaken about a lot with the tracks. But like night and day when you need traction.
