LR addiction is a genuine problem
I'm now 6 months defender-less, my previous best has been 7 months so I'm going to beat that soon
But another one WILL be coming when my ranger goes back at 3 years old(never ever again)!
Be another 110, td5 or puma, van body or ex utility. My 2 previous ones (td5 van, puma ex utility) both did 70k in 3.5 years each, the puma cost me a grand total of 3k in servicing and repairs, modifications and depreciation over that time! Don't think I'll ever manage better than that but I can try....

Yeah it's a problem for sure- it's ridiculous cos there are so many s**t things about them. I'm of average size but when I got in this one the other day it reminded me how cramped they are. Basically the one I'm looking for is an exceptionally tidy TD5 tipper with 75k on the clock. He had it on for £15k and I agreed a price at £13k but dunno- still a whack of money on a second truck- but future proof... ish.

Also todays job (and I’m gonna need it today!)- get the shower from the old yard set up and run a hot line from the boiler. So nice to strip, throw all the dirty clothes in the yard washing machine and then shower and go home clean.View attachment 52118

As long as landrover hold their value they work out quite well despite initial purchase cost- but if they suddenly fall in value in suddenly becomes a costly business. For me though it's just easy availability of parts/backup and the fact they're a big Meccano kit- nothing that can't be remedied.

Working spec ones like you or me would buy won't ever fall that dramatically I don't think, especially if you can nurse them on to 25 years old so you can flog them to a dopey American !
Absolutely everything can be fixed on them, and every single part can be obtained new/used ASAP- unlike my stepmums VW toureg, currently been in vw for a month waiting for dpf parts!!

Daft isnt it, I keep posting on it because cant believe how useful it is...this new setup has totally transformed our jobs, its made things so much easier and quicker.

They do get some stick down the business end of the arm though....hope it proves upto it, the engcon stickers aren't going to last long thats for sure.

I see Oriel attachments now have a tilting quick hitch with a combined gripper.

I see Oriel attachments now have a tilting quick hitch with a combined gripper

I would be handy no doubt ..but the ability to tilt and rotate through the angles gives you the abilty to place things just how you want,you use it very naturally like you use your thumb against your first 2 fingers.

Thought the JCB 3 ton one was basically a TA3 but different paint? I'm looking forwards to getting mine cos of the hydraulic drive- I have it under good faith (@Gunners video ) that the Kubota engine gives it plenty of poke too

Just be aware there’s two different power units available in those dumpers. The bigger engine is what you want

I usually leave the pressure washer lance held open to keep the cold line going overnight in winter.

Had a notion that I could just connect the steam cleaner to the hot tap if the line was frozen (or indeed could have saved myself running a hot line all together) I think the flow from one pipe would keep up with what the pressure washer will let through it in a minute and also allow some cold flow for the mixer, plus of course you’d regulate it right down on the thermostat.

I don't think it would be a waste of time atall. Yes the pick and place ability would be lessened but still massively reduce the amount of time spent trying to flick things into the bucket.
Thumbs and mechanical grabs have no articulation but are massively more useful than nothing

I’d much rather have a hydraulic quick hitch with tilt and a proper grab to go underneath it. For the price of that I bet you could get a hitch/grab combo with OilQuick.
