have you tried 'em with a discharger/load test ... can have a cell go down and still show voltage and charging ... just won't produce the goods when asked to do soView attachment 48009
My crane trailer let me down this morning. Was put to bed with a full charge about 3 weeks ago, just clicking on the pump solonoid and then throwing an F02 code when plugged in to forklift charger (low voltage). One of the batts has crust around the terminals so maybe on the blink. Both 12v batteries test okay on their own and charge okay. Will clean up terminals and try again Monday. I’m tempted to add another pair of 12v batts (I have the space) as a back up.
looks a right pig of a job .. and a finger killer ... hope the nose job is the last time it needs attentionAfter cleaning up the eroded drain beside this rural access road with the Haulotte and 1500mm tilting bucket, (missed taking the before photos), I've laid out the geotextile fabric prior to installing five 6m long by 2m wide by 170mm thick rock mattresses
The rock mattresses come flat and folded on a pallet and have to be stretched out and unfolded, 2 person job, and then the bottom part has to have the sides folded into position and tied to the ends and each baffle. That's tedious for a start. Then after placing the mattress base in position, I tip the rock in with whatever machine is on site, Haulotte or JCB 1CX and then have to manually place the rock evenly in the mattress. This is tedious too as especially in the steep section you have to stack the irregularly shaped rock, (local quarry supplied 75mm - 150mm), up each side without it falling down until you put the top on. This 30m of rock mattress required 14 tonnes of rock to fill.
Now for the next tedious part putting the top on which entails ties around the perimeter and across each of the 5 baffles, and on the steep bottom section, 3 ties from top to bottom between each baffle to ensure the rocks don't move. Very hard to get help on jobs like this so most of the work was done by myself with Christine assisting placing rocks and standing on the mattress when I straightened them out. The dog was no help although she is obsessed with rocks. She keeps bringing me rocks which I can throw anywhere into the bush and she will find the same rock and bring it back every time
It will look good when finished and the road is given 38 tonnes of roadbase. We've had some massively wet years recently and the road was in danger of washing out. It didn't help that the neighbours above had redirected the water flow making everything worse. I think this mattress will be in place until an archeological dig way in the future. The pictures tell the story, apart from the last one. Not enough sunscreen on the snout in my youth and a skin cancer had to be removed. Not a bad job my doc did however considering what he had to cut out. Blood everywhere during surgery though.

I don’t have one of those, but garage over the yard will. I think it’s a dodgy connection as found one of the positive clamps split.have you tried 'em with a discharger/load test ... can have a cell go down and still show voltage and charging ... just won't produce the goods when asked to do so... have had a few do it - couple this year alone

That's a bit excessive for a patio base ?View attachment 48023

Fair bit came out if you look at the Mrs in last picture for scale.
More destruction.... not bad in the day I reckon.
Bon week-end !
It's a funny setup ....apparently going to be a shed accessible by the paddock with a roof terrasse out of the doors there. That's a bit excessive for a patio base ?![]()
Moving on sounds wiseIt's a funny setup ....apparently going to be a shed accessible by the paddock with a roof terrasse out of the doors there.
Back of shed /retaining wall goes round first and front is off posts.
I don't get involved, 2.8m below doorstep and 1m away all way round was my brief, Monday a footing round bottom and we move on, leave the hard work to someone else![]()

What are they doing there, how flat did it need to be for that and how did you get it to that desired flatness (eye, spirit level, laser etc)? Not too shabby for five hours work on my own and five hundred quid in my pocket. leaving me time for a cheeky 170 quid dig out and muck away on the drive home.
Perfect job for the loader, especially when I had to claw it all down to the end. View attachment 48117View attachment 48118View attachment 48119View attachment 48120View attachment 48121View attachment 48122
Retaining wall. Eventually the wall and conservatory will come out when planning is granted. What are they doing there, how flat did it need to be for that and how did you get it to that desired flatness (eye, spirit level, laser etc)?
So say 4” would been acceptable over the 30’ long side?Retaining wall. Eventually the wall and conservatory will come out when planning is granted.
For little jobs like that a Niv Comp is ideal- basically a digital water level. As there will be further works the only bit that really mattered was the depth of the footings, and even that didn’t really matter!
Once the extension is built a patio will be laid so it was dug out roughly to the level required for that. We will final grade and stone up once the demolition is done so the builders have a nice clean space to work.
