Tidied up the tip site and then surprisingly the terrasse came out pop, now we know it will work we can start and tidy it all up, doesn't have to be exact as eventually sleeper walls are retaining each level and planting behind etc, that part is not for us

though as we're too busy this year so will keep moving on.

They are bloody brilliant. I much prefer kneeling down to dig. I can’t understand people who refuse to and keep straining their backs instead.

Agreed ...we have the Cornish style long handled one's that the French use but for naddgery little jobs round service's etc I dig on my knees.

Only recently discovered longhandled shovels...game changer never going back...
Apart from the mini ones like doob says handy as.

I remember first seeing them when we came to France and now use one myself and thet are much easier on the back, our shovel is a french/english hybrid with shovel head and long handle as opposed to pointed head, also French always seem impressed with our spit.... don't seem to have them here.

Day rate shovels. They do save your back but take ages to do anything and the square mouthed are lightweight so don't like heavy clay and round mouth can't scrape up
Some Of the Romanians I work with have medium length shovels which are the best of both worlds. They get them from b and q.

I love my long handled one....tho one lad keeps threatening to chop it down . Was a bargin at 4quid so I bought the last 2 they had.

Sometimes things work out nicely- had this old trailer up for sale for ages, finally got shot of it today. Got more than I paid for it, and it came with steel in it that I've used for various projects that would have cost me a few hundred quid to buy...
Made a space and some cash just in time for the 20 ibcs (for log crates) I've got coming on Thursday Must cut the nettles first....
Got unloaded by this nice old jcb that was being kept busy on a couple of new builds on a farm
