The 'Today's Job' thread

Spent a few hours yesterday trying out the trencher. Fantastic when the ground is good, a bit trying when the flints are a foot long but got her done and to be fair overall quicker than a bucket and much, much nicer to reinstate.

Then a little front garden dig out today.

Still very happy with the steel tracks- made it much easier to climb that bank when I couldn’t use the chain trencher to jack myself about. Also better for bulldozing.

Yeah, i considered getting a saw but then thought 'why not'. And it was fine with it.

Been a nice little run of 3-6 hour day hires this week, all at £400 plus vat. Things like the trencher are great because you spend less time on site.

Bank holiday shenanigans.

When the customer decides to get their toys out to play so they can be ‘one of the lads’. They spend an hour with a grading bucket and a ratchet strap trying to get a stump out. But you don’t want to offer to just pop it out for them for fear of emasculating them in front of the wife…

Also- how much nicer is field fencing with a clear space to work without tripping up! Scored an extra hundred to flail collect a little paddock for him also.

'Day off' apparently, so the contents of 3 vehicles are being dragged out, binned, filed, boxed and generally sorted...
8x4 bench, 3x 2 bench and a swath of floor now covered
Trouble is no matter how tidily you pack the truck, whatever you want is always at the bottom!

Spent the afternoon after lunch throwing up 50m of post and rail. Auger on the e27 making it easy to dig the hole and the Frankenstein pneumatic tamper making it easy to backfill properly with no effort. Only way to be profitable in my book, f**k doing it manually, I am way too old for that!

I have shelves down each side and a clear space in the middle so everything is accessible normally. Stihl saw goes in the middle. Only time it's a bit chocker is if I take all power tools in one go

I’ve had similar, mostly on articulated shovels. It can be a bar steward finding leaks under the cabs, and a bigger one getting access, as you’ll no doubt have found before now.

Doesn’t look very old - where was the leak?!

Return hose from pilot valve to tank, due to the angle the hose is bent it had rubbed out on the throttle cable moving back and forth! But everything too compact!

Got the Sudo attenuation pit filled with boulders and stones covered with Geotextile backfilled. there are 10 110mm pipes out of it to the two big flat stones where it dissipates into the boggy grassland.

Pissy little garden dig out this morning. One of those where the builder wants you to try to bury all the crap. I hate them. Get a grab you cheap cnt. No photos cause it was boring and I just wanted to get out by midday.

Finished off this pm with collecting the grass pile from the flail collecting last week (three iveco tipper loads), mowing the lawn again with the rotary to smarten it up, and as we had the loader there we broke every rule in the book and stood in the bucket to trim a hedge!
