I've asked about getting the stop start permanently switch off on my truck.

All I got was the "you shouldn't do it", "why would you want to disable the plant friendly device" blar blar blar.

Soon as I get in a press it to switch off so makes no odds if its wired off permanently for me. Just annoying when you forget to press it and it switches off at a junction and by the time it's thought about starting up again you've missed your chance to get out.

Must admit it’s pretty rapid to restart on the disco, you can stop it turning off by keeping your foot on the brake pedal, so I just do that.
My old focus was a bloody pain, turned off at every opportunity, switching it off was part of my switching engine on procedure!

Bad news when the battery is a bit iffy. It can't start instantly so chucks it into neutral....pain in the when you at lights 🫣

think there were a few Italian versions of them

got a winch here off of the big self loading site mixers ... chain driven with an electro-magnetic clutch for engagement off one of these sort of beasts

winch propelled the loading shovel/skip off the pulley at the top of the frame... IIRC the drum used to flip over to the rear to discharge ... big old beast

Its the oil flow to the poor turbo spooling down that worries me more than a starter motor...
And Yeh, Yeh, the old trucks were better - and they were - I'm not denying it either! But as discussed in the Van thread, they are made obsolete when you live near the LEZ. Luckily the work I get inside the zone pays for the inconvenience of having a nice new truck every 5 years so I'm not too worried. And the Defender is still sat there waiting if needed for the apocalypse.
