Called the Rac out for the partner van as wouldn't start with a jump and he had already tried bumping.it! I'm sure my lad will be sitting there waiting a while!

That was what we thought hence giving up and calling the RAC, its a 2019 and the battery has had it according to RAC. £220.00 for a new battery fitted and coded to the van

I wasn't aware these new vans with stop-start technology need to be coded to the van??
Yep had exact same last week. AGM in Amarok was messing about ..VW wanted 430 plus vat for supply and the fitting etc on top.
MOT guy did it for 200 ish coded etc all in. Rang another independent VAG guy I know who said deffo get the battery management reset with new battery to ensure alternator charges it correctly.
From what I can tell you can't do it the basic code reset tools like mine.

Moral of the story hardwire the start stop switch OFF FFS🤬
