My lwb custom will tow 2700kg with a train weight of 5240 on a 3000kg gross van so yes! Easily a ton over. although in fairness that setup may feel ok on the flat?
You’d need a silver tongue to talk your way out of that.
Autos tow less than 2 ton (pointless) and swb 2.5t.

I think if people were serious about being eco then push bikes are the answer. People would be healthier too. Instead of hs2 wouldn't a network of cycle paths be a better way of getting cars off the road? Modern bikes are are extremely efficient, and you can get help from an electric motor. Obviously towing is a problem... but actually you can get trailers for bikes.

that'll push him about in some order ... if he has the nose weight right .... and looking at the van's back axle/arches, I'd say he has.
must have 98% of that on the trailer axles
