Get yourself a couple of ibc cut holes in the top fill while your digging then lower pump in and pump straight into tank as required, saves a lot of time

Nice dry mix doesn’t need a lot of water in then.. been known to pump the old ones content into the new tank..

The beacon from our yard when it caught fire few years back looked like a volcano erupting

Did dry mix for base and peagravel fill around it
Had a farmer fill one up for himself in about 20 mins years ago from the settled water off his slurry put with a slurry tanker
Used to Smoke rollups back then he said don't learn over it with that lit fag

With a drought and hosepipe ban here/almost here why fill it with so much fresh water?

Can’t pop out with so much dry ground and it’s just wasting water, no farmer friend to suction tank some sea water in it haha

Thought you couldn’t do a basic septic anymore all had to be treatment plants?

Surely you can still do a standard tank and soakaway after can't you ??
Better than a treatment plant in the right conditions.

putting a basic plant in next week ,but it does have a fair bit of land to accomadate soakaways

That's correct and 50m from a bore hole as well for drainage field
Lots of shady firms have taken advantage when that new rule about treatment tanks came in and lots of home owners have been fooled into changing out perfectly fine septic tanks for no reason when the rule was only changed for properties that are near water course's that need to have extra treatment before discharge

Its 35m from a borehole / well here in france and it's only if there is no alternative that a treatment plant is allowed direct into ditch etc
Treatment plant direct into watercourse is only ok in principal but in real world many don't get looked after and output falls well below the accepted norms.
Compact filter is a better option imho but I don't think they are popular in u.k ?

Marsh do bio bubble where it pumps air from a air pump motor fitted either in its own box away from tank or under the lid of the tank it's self so require power from house to run it

The klargester bio disc scores best I think on discharge and you need a license from environment agency for direct discharge into watercourse

The rule change was that any existing septic tank which discharged into a watercourse had to either be changed to a treatment plant. Tbh the extra cost of a treatment plant isn't an issue when offset against the extra cost of a soakaway in most cases.

Interesting one...lad on tyre van just changed this. Coach driver noticed it on his check before he set off across the dales was fine in the morning checks apparently.
