yes i imagine your right about a tilty making up for some shortfalls over kingpost machines, people who like them certainly seem keen to stick with them, guy i know likes them over a king post machine enough to special order them.
suppose the only people qualified to comment are the people who have had plenty of seat time in both, otherwise theres far too much choice supportive bias going on, like on faceache.

Ive spend a fair bit of time on both, for myself and for others... you can see where my money went just hopeful the tilty suits it as well as i hope!!

Definitely more versatile. But certainly compared to a standard kingpost machine and not having all that bulk and weight out ahead of you make for a more planted and robust design if Mono. Can't really fully articulate why I prefer them other than they just feel so much more lively and responsive to use.

I was just wondering. I reckon you got the best blend of depreciation- year old machine and a five year old tilty. Good find.

as it sits with rototilt etc, FULL spec machine and about 1300 machine hours, 3k wrist hours the whole set up cost about 5 grand less than a base spec bare stick sk75

i Played with one of them that was having a new rototilt fitted...What a nice machine possibly more stable than the kobelco but it had the extra weight specced. id have deffo looked at one if i was going new but no used ones about yet!!

I could never own a TB290 myself. Machine itself is ok but every one I have hired has been totally gutless In the tracking department

Nice start to the day this morning.
Made a change after paddling in porridge for the last week!
Customers change of plan led to a right mess and a very unsatisfying finish of unwhackable type 1 soup Fortunatley not my job, not my decisions, we kept the mess to one area and the customer seems genuinely pleased Even so, no-one wants to leave a job 'finished' and not be happy themselves really

Oh and apparently blowlamping your damp wellies is a sensible course of action
